Laufen and Aria watched Max from afar, their hearts pounding in their chests as they tried to process the terrifying events happening before their eyes. They knew they had to leave, but Max's determination and pure skill was astounding.
From their vantage point, all they saw was Max disappear, then reappear behind the monsters who were grieving the death of their companion. He seemed almost like a ghost, his movements too quick for the eye to follow.
And then… he just stood there? Doing nothing?
"Is he insane, why isn't he attacking?" Aria whispered, she wanted to shout but it would reveal their presence to the monsters.
"I-I don't know…" Laufen stammered, shock written all over his face, it was his chance to at least try and get rid of one of them, and yet he just stood there.
Of course, the second during which Max used 'Time Cut', time itself had been rewritten for everyone except for him.
