Chapter 19 - Finding a Guide

After killing the goblin king, Max left the room using the door behind the goblin king's throne and found himself yet again in a cave, except this time he knew he was heading toward the location of the goblin village because he found a huge crowd of goblins waiting for him.

They were all looking at him with hatred in their eyes, and they seemed to be ready to attack him at any moment, but none of them dared to do so as they knew he was a ruthless maniac able to kill them all if he wanted, plus he had already killed their king, meaning there was no way they ever stood a chance of defeating him.

Max walked towards the group of goblins and passed through them, not even bothering to kill them as they didn't even dare to touch him, instead letting him pass without saying a word, a look of utter defeat in their eyes.

And just like that, he reached the end of the cave and found himself in the forest again, but this time he wasn't only surrounded by trees: there were dozens upon dozens of wooden houses lying everywhere around, that's when he knew he reached the goblin village.

[The goblin village has been reached, Host, we are close to our goal of escaping, let us be quick]

'Yeah yeah...' Max sighed as he walked into the village, the goblins inside of it were looking at him with fear in their eyes, but they still didn't dare to attack him, and that's when he realized that the ones standing outside of the cave were mostly the women bearing children and the children who hadn't yet been old enough to learn how to fight, as well as some of the old ones.

But Max honestly didn't care, he just stood at the center of the village around all the locked houses of the goblins as they could only stare at him from the windows, hoping he wouldn't go on a rampage and slaughter their kind.

"WHERE IS THE EXIT OF THIS FOREST!" the boy shouted, fully knowing that they could understand him as he spoke their tongue thanks to the upgrade of his assassination ability.

But silence was the only answer he got, none of the creatures daring to approach the human that had killed their king.

"I'll ask one more time," Max, now clearly mad and cold said, "Where is the exit of this forest, I know you can understand me..."

He felt like they wouldn't budge though, so he decided to take matters into his own hands.

"You have three seconds before I kill every single one of you and figure it out myself," he threatened the creatures, making some of them cry out of despair, knowing not even the goddess of fate could save them now.

"One," Max started his countdown, he was serious about killing everybody, "Two," the tension in the air was so thick you could cut it with a knife, and many goblins observed with fearsome looks in their eyes, "Three-"

"WAIT!" he heard a feminine voice to his right, and surprisingly, he saw a girl with a human figure run towards him while speaking his tongue, not the goblin one, she was the same height as him and had black hair and green skin, as well as goblin ears, "I-I can guide you there, please do not kill us..."

"What are you...?" Max expected only to see small and ugly creatures in his way, but seeing such a beauty with such... great assets among them was indeed a surprise.

"I... I am the daughter of the goblin king... my mother i-is a human s-so... I am a half-goblin..." she mumbled, avoiding Max's sharp gaze, she knew that he had killed so many of her kind and that he would probably do the same with her if he felt like it.

"A half-goblin princess huh... where is your mother...?" he asked.

"She died while giving birth to me... goblins aren't familiar with human methods so..." she couldn't finish her sentence, tears already welling up in her eyes, but Max couldn't care less, and all he needed to do now was get out of this forest.

The first thing that came to Max's mind at that moment was: "HOW THE FUCK DID THIS GUY IMPREGNATE A HUMAN," but there must be a reason right?

"I killed your father, are you sure you want to guide me there? You might never come back to this village," he shook those thoughts away and spoke.

"I... I don't care, even if you kill me in the end, I'll have saved my people at least... plus... I never really liked them-" she put her two hands on her mouth as if she was about to commit a crime and just shook her head.

"Very well, lead the way then," Max smiled and told the girl to show him the exit of the forest, and she complied, leading him through the maze of trees and monsters, the sun setting in the horizon.

"It won't take long, I promise..." she muttered, unsure about whether the boy would spare her or not.

"Oh, and what's your name?" Max asked, he wanted to know the name of the person that would help him escape this forest.

"My name is Elly..."

***

Elly the Half-Goblin Princess guided Max through the forest, trying to avoid every monster they came across as much as possible, which was pretty easy because Max was extremely fast and strong, and he could easily deal with any creature that tried to attack them.

"Thank you..." the half-breed girl said halfway through their journey, which did surprise Max, "I've never been out of this forest before and I think your arrival is finally gonna change things... even though I am a half-goblin, these people never accepted me into their tribe because of my appearance and would bully me repeatedly, not letting me leave in case I wanted to run away, my father didn't care about me either as he took the role of the king... so even if you kill me in the end... then I guess it's worth it!"

Apparently Elly was allowed to go to the edges of the forest, which is how she knew the way out, but was never allowed to leave, even if it was just a singular step outside.

Max could see the tears in her eyes, and he understood why she wanted to leave this place so badly now even though there was the chance of him killing her.

[See! Even though you might think we are doing bad things, in the end, we are the true heroes!]

'Thank you so much divination,' Max rolled his eyes at this foolish attempt to justify the genocide of the goblins, he didn't really care in the first place anyway so he let it slide.

But this sole moment of distraction from him was enough for the duo to bump into a group of orcs, they were six in total, and they looked way stronger than the monsters Max had fought until now.
