(The next day)
As the sun rose, Max made his way to the courtyard, having gotten very little sleep the previous night.
Elly had woken up to find him still sitting at the table, staring off into nothingness.
"Did you sleep at all?" she asked, concern etched on her features. Max just shook his head, still processing the strange sensation that had come over him.
She had made breakfast for him, and he gladly ate it before getting ready to leave.
"See you soon," the half-breed smiled.

Upon hearing her words, the skill yet again activated, and this made Max even more aware of how badly things could get.
"Hey… Elly," he stood at the entrance of their room, his back facing the girl, "What would you do if I suddenly disappeared?"
Elly's eyes widened, not comprehending the gravity of his question. She looked at him for a moment before her expression turned bittersweet.
