Marvin listened to the discussion and furrowed his brows. Although he had been out of the kingdom for many years now, he was still knowledgeable about his Kingdom.
"Are you talking about The Obsidian Council?" Marvin asked Lex.
"Yes, senior." Lex nodded his head.
"You can just call me Grandpa, no need for such formalities." Marvin waved his hand and said, "As for The Obsidian Council, I've also heard and dealt with them. I have to say they're a pain in the ass."
Then a glint passed in his eyes as he said, "You can even say I've been searching for them."
"They also did something to you?" Lex asked.
Marvin nodded and said, "Because of them, I lost my family."
Lex nodded but didn't ask anything more. He could see the pain in Marvin's eyes, and he didn't want to throw salt on his wounds by asking about his past.
He then looked at Grandpa Max's eyes and saw a flame of revenge burning inside. He sighed and shook his head.
This was the reason almost everyone hated The Obsidian Council. They had ruined many happy families. These two old men were just some of many victims.
Marvin shook off those past memories and asked, looking at Lex, "Why are they after you?"
Lex scratched his cheek and said, "Well, you remember the Revit incident of six years ago?"
"Of course, who doesn't know about that? Every Nation and Kingdom knows about it." Marvin nodded and said, "Because of that incident, we were able to secure one of the greatest victories against The Obsidian Council. It was an event that would be talked down in the history."
Denver smirked and said, "Well, then you're looking at the perpetrator of that incident right here."
Marvin didn't speak and just looked at Denver to see if he was joking or anything. Then he looked at Grandpa Max for confirmation.
"It's the truth, Old Marvin." Grandpa Max nodded and said.
"But how's that possible? He would be around 12-13 back then..." Marvin asked in confusion.
"You're asking that despite having a granddaughter like Elle?" Grandpa Max asked. "You know anomalies like these kids exist. Now you understand why I said Elle isn't the only abnormalities I've seen."
Marvin sighed and accepted that explanation. After all, his own granddaughter was an anomaly, so he could actually believe that.
He looked at Lex and asked, "What happened back then, actually?"
"Umm, it's a long story, but mostly, it was just me getting fed up with everything," Lex said. "Because of that, I went and blew up everything."
Denver smirked and said, "Yeah, like it was that easy. You still haven't told me what actually happened that night, you know."
Lex gave a side glance to Denver and said, "It's not really something I like to share, I haven't even told Ely about this."
"Tsk, You're just trying to keep me in false suspense." Denver clicked his tongue and said, "I'm sure that someone else did it, and you're just taking the credit."
"Yes, Yes, the king himself came and did that; he didn't want the world to know that, so he gave me the task to take full responsibility for that incident," Lex said in a mocking tone.
"Wow! So it was the king all along!" Denver exclaimed and said.
Lex was speechless. He gave Grandpa Max a sympathetic look and said, "I pity you, Old Man."
"Same here, I also pity you." Grandpa Max nodded and sighed.
"Hey! Hey! That was a sarcastic comment. You guys don't even understand humour." Denver scoffed and said. "I understand of Gramps as he's old, but you, Lex? You're young bro, at least you should understand."
"Don't include me with you," Lex put his hands up and said.
The trio stopped their drama, hearing a laugh beside them.
Marvin laughed, seeing the drama in front of him, and said, "You guys are so chill even though an Organisation like Obsidian Council is targeting you."
Lex smiled and said, "Because we're prepared. I knew they would again rise; they are like cockroaches, after all. That's why I've been preparing for them for the last six years."
"Same goes for me, I wanted to act immediately, but Lex stopped me." Grandpa Max said with a smile, "I'm actually happy because now they're back, I can finally show them what happens when you mess with the Ramsey Family."
Marvin nodded and opened his mouth to say something but decided otherwise. He seemed hesitant.
Grandpa Max saw that and said, "Don't worry about it, Old Marvin. You're living a peaceful life with your granddaughter, so you don't have to join us."
"You aren't directly connected with The Obsidian Council like us. For us, it's different. Take me, for example; I have nothing to lose, so I can go against them." Grandpa Max said.
He then nodded and said, "I know what you're thinking, Denver and Ruby, right? But they don't need me anymore but Elle needs you. So you don't have to join us, I didn't come here for that."
Marvin smiled wryly. He really wanted to just join them but he couldn't do that.
Denver snorted and said from the side, "Don't talk like you're going to die tomorrow. Old man. We don't need you? For fucks sake, who's going to handle Big Sis then? I'm definitely not handling her, Hell nah."
Lex, from the side, rolled his eyes and said, "As if this old man can handle MM. Nobody can handle her. But for once, I agree with you."
"Heh, so now you young brats would decide how I live," Grandpa Max scoffed and said.
"Elder Marvin, what happened?"
A voice resounded as a woman came walking towards Marvin. She was a tall woman looking in her late twenties, she currently had a frown on her face as she looked at Marvin.
"It's nothing, Jean. We're just talking..." Marvin waved his hand and said to the woman.
The tall woman, Jean, came in front of Marvin and kneeled down. She looked him in the eyes and said, "It's better if you say your concerns to me, Elder Marvin. Because you know how Elle will behave if she sees you like this."
