David sighed deeply, hanging his head as he walked reluctantly to his car. He knew that this was just the beginning of a long road to redemption. But for Angelina's sake, he was determined to make it right.
When he walked absently into his house, Mrs. Rita looked up in surprise. "Dinner is ready, son," she said cautiously, noting the tension in his posture.
David paused, glancing at her before slumping onto a nearby couch. He buried his head in his palms, feeling utterly lost. Mrs. Rita watched him for a moment, trying to decipher his mood, then approached him with concern.
"Are you alright, David?" she asked gently.
He lifted his face, shaking his head. "No, I'm not. I went to see Carissa. I thought... I thought Angelina, her daughter, might be my daughter." He recounted all that happened to her.
