The guards reached down to lift Carissa, but she refused their help. Pushing them away, she scrambled to her feet and ran down the hall, her heart shattered into a million pieces. David watched her go, a flicker of something unrecognizable in his eyes.
As she fled, Natasha turned to David, her smile triumphant. "She deserved that."
David didn't respond, his gaze still fixed on the empty hallway where Carissa had disappeared. Inside, a turmoil of emotions raged, but he kept his face impassive. Natasha sauntered over to him, her hand sliding up his arm.
"Now, where were we?" she purred.
David pulled away from her touch. "That wasn't Natasha. You know that."
Natasha's smile faltered, but she quickly regained her composure. "Well, it was necessary, babe.."
