As the dinner ended, Daisy declined the offer to hitch a ride with David and Carissa, preferring to make her own way home. David excused himself to answer a call, giving Daisy the chance to pull Carissa to a corner.
"Listen, Carissa," Daisy began, her voice firm but tinged with concern. "Don't even think about spending the night at David's place tonight."
Carissa looked at her best friend, seeing the worry etched in her features. "Daisy, I know. I know well enough not to offend my best friend two times in less than a week."
Daisy's expression softened, though the concern remained. "It's not about offending me. I'm just worried about you. This thing with David... it's intense, and I don't want you to lose yourself in it."
Carissa sighed, reaching out to take Daisy's hand. "I get it, Daisy. I do. But being with David... It's like I'm finally where I'm supposed to be. I've never felt like this before, you know."
