Chapter 9 - mana test

It has been five years since I conversed with my mom and dad about my future with the kingdom. As the first prince, I had to learn more about my people, so my parents hired a tutor to teach me how to rule. In those five years, I knew all I could about the human kingdom and the other ones around us.

From class, I learned that the Black Dragon Empire in the East: Known for its enigmatic ruler, the Black Dragon Empire is shrouded in mystery and intrigue. Its territory stretches across vast swathes of land, and its influence is felt far and wide.

Royal Elven Empire in the West: The Royal Elven Empire is renowned for its majestic forests, ancient wisdom, and unparalleled mastery of magic. Elves are respected throughout the land for their grace, beauty, and formidable abilities in both combat and diplomacy.

Giant Empires in the North: The Giants, towering beings of immense strength and endurance, have established their mighty empires in the frigid lands of the North. Though often isolated from the affairs of other races, their strength cannot be underestimated, and their territories are fiercely defended.

And the Human Royal Empire: The Human Royal Empire is a beacon of civilization and progress, boasting bustling cities, grand castles, and a rich cultural heritage. Ruled by a lineage of wise and powerful monarchs, the empire is a melting pot of diverse peoples and traditions. Who is not the most powerful one? According to some legends, humans are the most powerful. But now they have started to decline because of internal problems.

The next day, Vlad woke up early to get dressed because today was an important day for him. he was turning five, and at that age, everyone had to take a test to see if they possessed mana. Vlad, are you ready for today? Ask my mom, who was dressing as lovely as always.

"I am ready," I replied, my voice steady despite the flutter of nerves in my stomach. My mother's presence, as always, brought a sense of comfort and reassurance.

"Today, you turn five," she reminded me gently, eyes full of warmth and pride. "Vlad, today is the day you must take the test to check if you have mana."

Her words carried a weighty significance, a reminder of the expectations placed upon me as the heir to the throne. As the first prince, all eyes would be upon me, scrutinizing my every move, especially regarding my magical potential.

I nodded solemnly, understanding the gravity of the situation. The outcome of this test would not only shape my destiny but could also have far-reaching implications for the kingdom as a whole.

With my mother by my side, I stepped forward, ready to face whatever challenges awaited me. Though uncertainty loomed on the horizon, I drew strength from her unwavering support and the knowledge that I carried the legacy of our kingdom within me.

As we made our way towards the testing grounds, I braced myself for the trials ahead, determined to prove myself worthy of the title I had been born to inherit. You don't have to worry too much about today, Vlad. We love you no matter what, okay my mom says to me as she looks at me. When I hear that, it fills me with joy. It's okay, Mom. I'm just a little happy, that's all.

After the mana test revealed Vlad's exceptional abilities, the royal court buzzed with excitement. Word of his powerful affinity for water magic quickly spread through the kingdom. The court was eager to prepare Vlad for his future role, but they knew that such raw potential needed careful nurturing. His training would now take on a whole new dimension, blending royal duties with intense magical education.

The next day, a council of advisors, tutors, and magical scholars gathered in the throne room to discuss Vlad's future. His father, the king, sat at the head of the table, a figure of wisdom and strength, while his mother sat beside him, her gentle smile a calming presence.

"Vlad's potential is extraordinary," one of the mages said, his eyes fixed on the young prince. "But such power must be trained. Without proper guidance, it could be dangerous."

The king nodded thoughtfully. "Indeed. We must find the finest magic tutors in the realm. The question is—who?"

"I have heard rumors of the Archmage Orin," another advisor said. "He resides in the Tower of Eldrin, far to the North, beyond the lands of the Giants. His knowledge of elemental magic is unparalleled."

"But the journey is perilous," another advisor chimed in. "The northern regions are fraught with danger, and tensions rising among the Giant Empires could be risky."

Vlad listened carefully, understanding that this decision could shape his path. He knew he needed to be strong, not just for himself, but for his kingdom. With the Human Royal Empire facing internal challenges and the looming power of the surrounding empires, his magic would be a crucial asset.

His father turned to him. "What do you think, Vlad? This is your future we are discussing."

Vlad met his father's gaze, his heart steady. "I believe that if Archmage Orin is the one who can help me master my magic, then I must go. The journey may be dangerous, but our kingdom is worth the risk. If I am to protect our people, I need to be strong."

The king smiled, a hint of pride in his eyes. "You have a brave heart, my son. Very well. We will send word to Archmage Orin and prepare for your journey."

And so, it was decided. Vlad would embark on a journey to the far North, to seek out the knowledge of the legendary Archmage Orin. The path ahead would be fraught with danger—giants, treacherous weather, and political intrigue—but it was a journey Vlad was ready to face. The fate of the Human Royal Empire, and perhaps the balance of power among the great kingdoms, rested on his success.

Preparations began immediately. Vlad's tutors worked tirelessly to prepare him for the journey, teaching him about survival in the North, the customs of the Giants, and how to channel his water magic in practical ways. His magical training, which had only just begun, intensified as he learned to control and harness the raw power that had been revealed during the test.

In the days leading up to his departure, his parents offered words of wisdom and support. "Remember, you carry the hopes of our people with you," his father said, resting a hand on Vlad's shoulder. "But also, never forget that we believe in you."

"I'll make you both proud," Vlad promised.

The day of his departure arrived all too soon. Vlad stood at the gates of the royal city, dressed in traveling gear fit for the harsh northern climate. A small retinue of knights and advisors accompanied him, but the journey would ultimately be his to undertake. As the gates opened, Vlad took one last look at his parents and the kingdom he would one day rule. Then, with determination in his heart, he set off into the unknown, ready to face the trials that awaited him in the North.

Little did he know, the journey would test his magical abilities and challenge him in ways he could never have imagined. Forces far greater than the kingdom itself stirred in the shadows, and Vlad's destiny was intertwined with them in ways he had yet to discover.
