In the gutters of the city, where the glow of neon casts long shadows over the crumbling facades of forgotten buildings, I set forth on a journey fueled by the fire of vengeance. My father's motorcycle, stolen by one of the gangs that prowl the streets like wolves in the night, served as both the catalyst and the symbol of my wrath. Armed with a Walter pistol loaded with nine bullets – one for each of the middle bosses responsible for the theft – and on my waist a sleek black sword, the [Wolf's Ravaging Edge].
"A city to burn, a world to conquer, and friends to bring back to life!" I shouted as the winds swept past my ear. My speed already surpassing human levels.
As I traversed the alleys and dimly lit corridors of the city's underbelly, the air crackled with tension, thick with the scent of impending violence. Every step forward was a declaration of defiance against those that sought to oppress and subjugate, every heartbeat a reminder of the injustice that festered like a wound in the post-calamity human world. After I leaped over a wall, a compound appeared to me, filled to the brim with armed gang members, all in the Moyatas gang uniform, a gray suit. An outfit meant to show their class when they were nothing but savages.
"Go, pups!" With a silent command, I unleashed my wolves upon the unsuspecting gang members, their howls of rage echoing through the night as they were through flesh and bone with savage ferocity.
"We're under attack! It's monsters! A gate must have broken nearby!" The gang members shouted.
Meanwhile, I moved with a lethal grace born of not only my stats but also my cold heart, my fists a blur as I dispatched any who dared to stand in my way.
"Where are those bastards?" I asked as my eyes scanned to find the middle bosses.
The middle bosses – the puppet masters pulling the strings from the shadows – were my true targets. With each move from my sword that found its mark, I draw closer to the heart of their operation, leaving a trail of blood and broken bodies in my wake. The tortured bodies and kidnapped people I passed on my way only served to increase my speed.
Soon, I found an especially well-fortified door, equipped with the latest Akira-Corp security tech. Tech that they boasted could stop even A-rank hunters. Of course, I was no ordinary hunter. My sword moved like a shadow as [Transcendant] activated and I struck at the exact point of the wall and pulled out a terminal. In an instant, I connected it to the personal link hanging from my neck. A series of complex matrixes meant to safeguard appeared across my field of view.
"Fuck! I was never good at hacking!"
I opened the SearchWeb the global internet, and searched as many cracking techniques and hacking methods as I could as quickly as I could. The electrifying and refreshing energy unceasingly filled my mind. Learning had become breathing to me and an oxygen tank was connected to my lungs. In an instant, I heard the satisfying sound.
*Kashak!*
"I did it!"
And the doors split open revealing a meeting room, 9 seats facing a dark figure in hologram form in the middle. The 9 middle bosses of the Moyata gang were all present.
"An intruder? SHOOT!"
"Do it you fuckers!"
*BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!…..BANG!!*
Every shot directly landed on my body and left its own hole.
[You have die-Erro ERROR ERROR]
"AGHHHHHHH!!!IS THAT IT?!"
[Pain Tolerance has reached A-Rank.]
"What?!"
"How the fuck is he still alive?!"
In an instant, I had recovered and I leaped into their midsts, and with 3 bullets I had already taken 3 lives. Their terrified gazes only intensified as I shot at their head with pinpoint accuracy. Every bullet carrying a name had struck its chosen lover.
I stood there in a pool of blood, mostly my own, and felt a victory unmatched.
*Clap! Clap! Clap!*
"Huh?" I looked around in confusion, my eyes finally settling on the unclear hologram figure in the holograph.
"Such a beautiful gift he has given you, even better than my own."
"Who are you?" I asked.
"12th, you've received his greatest curse, so he must have high expectations for you. Struggle, suffer, and bring forth his vision-"
*Bang!* *Bzzt!*
A bullet suddenly struck the holograph, its source unknown. No matter how I searched I couldn't figure out where it had come from. In the end, I gathered up all of the valuables from the middle bosses and left. The wolves were playing with each other after they had torn all the gang members to shreds, their cute expressions and jumps a complete opposite to the devastated bodies surrounding them.
"You did a good job pups!" I said as I tapped my wrist.
A hologram screen appeared:
CREDITS:97666
"That's a lot better than negative 160 Credits if I say so myself." I couldn't help but smile as I patted the wolves' heads.
"Wool!"X3
"Go rest for now, I have a motorcycle to get and a few things to do."
I made a few taps to my wrist as the wolves returned to the sword. Soon 30 thousand credits were sent out, 7 recipients, and 7 blocked numbers.
"I hope all of you are watching from up there, the Moyatas that took our things and killed all of you, I've killed them all!"
I almost wished I could cry, maybe I would have if I didn't have [Cold Heart] but maybes had no place in the world, especially not in Heavy Rain."
I entered the compound's garage and from amongst all the luxurious vehicles, I sat atop an old Harley motorcycle, a relic from the pre-catalysm world. As its engine roared, I had a sudden urge.
"I need a smoke, it's been too long."
I had stopped smoking because my sister said I would die from cancer. Now an immortal, I thought why not?
As I split the roads, I felt as if heavy chains had broken and everything that had kept me in Heavy Rain was cut, a vision came to mind, one where I stood at the top of the world and changed it. A black box stuck closely to my arm, a treasure I had found within the compound.
"…might as well find a Doc and become a real hunter.." I said as I looked towards the box.
Even after the symphony of violence played out, no one cared, in daycity nothing mattered but survival, even murder, and worse crimes amounted to nothing but a conversation at most. As for the police? Even your entire body wasn't worth the energy they would spend coming to your location. Only the wealthy were worthy of protection after all.
