Terúlis never liked lying to people. He'd always been religious since the day he was born. But, when he saw the goddess herself lying eyes closed infront of the praying altar, he couldn't bring up the news.
As the head priest, he had the ability to see the divine herself, at least comprehend some of her form. But, it was never complete, the goddess was too powerful to be understood and looked at even with the ability to do so, so he mostly see her as a cloud of light.
Nevertheless, that day, 7 years ago, he saw the goddess herself, in her human form lying asleep on the altar. Being able to comprehend her form means that she was devoided of any ability, her power was weak, and so explain why she was asleep.
It was also the same day Grand Prince Elizaron conjured the spell to give birth to the realm-heir. He had sacrificed the entire realm's grain and wheat storage for one year just for this ritual, a ritual for a slumbering and unresponsive goddess. Of course, it was Telúris who gave his consent to it, he lied by giving the goddess's blessings.
As the head priest of the goddess of prophecy, Terúlis could see the future sometimes during dreams. That day, he also foresaw a doom coming, it wasn't clear, nor could he even recall what it was about, but he knew it was the end of the world.
If he knew how furious the Grand Prince was when he discovered his spell had failed, when his heir didn't have any magic potential, he might had changed his mind about the blessings.
He pitied the princess, borned to this world, only to be a failed experiment of an ancient magic no one had ever tried.
The ceremony was a massive success. No major incident happened. The dancers were all acting in unison's attracting cheers from the pilgrims and the commoners, it was overall, a cheery experience.
The Consort Falah and Princess Elissa both will stay in the temple for the night. It was the princess herself who suggested it. She was very excited about the entire event, even if she hadn't show it. She was always calm and collected with her stoic face.
Elizaron's dissatisfaction with the child was an open secret. Nearly every elder in the council knew about it, the man himself didn't even bother to hide it. How the princess managed to keep her face despite all the abuse and mockery by her father was beyond Telúris. He didn't even know his own father.
Now, he saw this same Princess standing alone in the altar. It was dark, with only the moon giving light via the open roof. Telúris wondered why she was there, until he saw how she was staring at the sleeping Goddess.
Can she see it?
It was all over Telúris' mind. How can this child managed to see something so divinely and so regal. Even a master mage couldn't see something like this without having the ability, and that ability was for Telúris alone. Now this child, who couldn't even conjure a spell managed to see it so clearly? It made him confused.
"Pontifex" She bowed to him, somehow realizing the priest was there, even though he had sneakily entered the room.
Telúris observed the child with a glance, before fixing his eyes on the figure on the altar.
"Can you see it?" He asked with his curiosity clearly over the top.
The princess nodded, before saying. "Of course I can, I'm her champion after all"
If a commoner ever said something like that to any god, he or she would be executed on sight.
"When I was still a simple soul, She came to me, saying that I will be her champion" The princess muttered, clearly trying to inform Telúris, no matter how nonsensical it might be.
"I didn't know she used all her powers to simply get me"
It made sense know, Elizaron thought his spell had failed. He thought his child was a failure, oh how wrong he was. He didn't summon a mere magical child, he had gave birth to the chosen one.
He looked to her, clearly seeing her face. The Priest thought he was hallucinating, that the night fatigue had finally cought up to him. He switch his view between her and his deity, no matter how many times, the similarity still persist. The goddess of Moon and prophecy, Serena and the future Grand Princess of Calenon, Princess Elissa, both had the same exact face.
