Chapter 14 - Awakening

A small figure composed of light stared at the inky hand that hadn't moved from its position since it had been formed. The darkness that had previously been eagerly devouring the light in this place now surrounded the figure, showing the figure that it had nowhere to escape. However, the light of hope was focused on the hand that offered the salvation that it was seeking, it pondered the integrity of these words. This is how far it had been pushed, it was considering the words of the darkness that had caused its current weakened state.

As the light thought, its featureless countenance slowly morphed, as various sections sunk whilst others were being raised, it was as if a pair of hands were slowly shaping the light. In the midsection of the blank face, a button nose was skillfully fashioned from the light before a set of lips were moulded below this nose. Two orbs were carved into the upper section, with the nose positioned in between these orbs, as this happened, particles of light condensed into long strands which began to populate the figure's empty scalp.

With the final strand finding its place on the scalp, the transformation process had now come to an end, with the light taking the form of the person that it resided within, Faye. The reason behind this metamorphosis was quite simple, faced with the hatred and betrayal of the villagers and her father, Faye's consciousness had finally collapsed from the heavy mental blows that it had been dealt. The light of hope was a part of her consciousness, so it tried to absorb as many fragments as it could, it was its job as hope to give Faye something to hold to, something to give her the will to live.

And now, Faye found herself facing the darkness, its hand still outstretched waiting for her decision. She had already heard its words, her dim eyes inspected the wall of darkness, wondering how it was trying to save her. It had caused so much destruction and now it wanted to save her, was it playing with her? Did it want to give her a sense of hope so that it could snuff it out? It was at this moment that the voice spoke again.

"Child, you have searched for love your whole life, but you have never been successful have you?"

"Your father couldn't even give you an ounce of love even with all that you did for him, the villagers sold you out without even blinking, and those knights wish to take your life despite the innocent and pure life you have lived."

Faye's glowing body dimmed at the voice's words, each word that had been said was the truth, a truth she had tried to ignore her whole life with the hope that someone unlike the others would appear. But that day never came, instead, she was going to be handed death, the price for her hopes and her ignorance. Her will gradually weakened as the acceptance of this truth chipped away at her, seeking to beat her down to a point lower than her current one. As if it knew she was about to fall apart, the voice returned with a sentence that caused Faye's to widen.

"Look around you child, look at how the darkness longs for you, can you not see the love it holds for you"

Carefully looking at her surroundings once again, Faye noticed how the different parts of the eternal black squirmed like a child excited to see their mother as she cast her eyes upon it. Then there was the arm that stuck out of the darkness, despite its unnerving appearance, it looked strangely dependable. Did this terrifying darkness really hold the love she had been searching for? Would this darkness save her?

While these questions rushed through her mind, her body unconsciously moved towards the inhuman hand, her very being was aligning with the evil that encircled her. Moving out of her thoughts, Faye focused on the hand which had remained in the same place since it had appeared, she was now about a metre away from it. The palm was about as large as her torso, with each finger being roughly the same size as her legs. The ends of each finger were razor-sharp like they were giant swords which had been whetted to their absolute limits, Faye was sure that a single flick would easily cleave the giant knight into two. Despite the danger presented by the hand, the girl placed her hand on the index finger of the large hand and began to move her hand along it, shivering from the strange warmth that enveloped her as she did this.

Her glowing hand of light began to blacken as the darkness that made up the hand sought to dye the girl in its colour, but she paid no mind to this as the darkness crawled up her arm. As the light of her body faded, Faye felt a connection forming between herself and the darkness with it came a rush of emotions, emotions she couldn't believe another could feel for her. It was love. But it was a strange kind of love. It was love that threatened to cause her to explode from its potency. Every inch of her body was being defiled and ravaged by this love, slowly corrupting the innocent girl, but she could only feel an orgasmic bliss that was slowly growing more intense. The girl who had always desired love was now receiving it in full force, and she loved it, Faye felt joy rush through her veins as she was being tainted, no, perfected.

Wrapping herself around the finger, the rate at which the darkness inked her increased manyfold as did the bliss Faye felt, a smile adorned her face as she began to whisper to herself, "If they all hate me, then I shall become what they hate. If my father says that I killed my mother, then so be it, I killed her. I'll become the demon they accuse me of being"

"Yes, my child, that was what you were destined for. Become the demon you were meant to be. Become one with the darkness. Let yourself be corrupted. And then slaughter them all, bathe in their blood, feast on their flesh, become the truest version of yourself"

A sinister glint flashed in Faye's eyes as her now dark figure tightened its grasp around the finger as intense wrath surged out of her body, all the rage that she had kept bottled up freed itself from its confines. Faye saw no reason to conceal her emotions anymore, she would do it, butcher every last one of them. No one would escape her. The men, the women, the children, she would dance in their blood. She would become a demon. No, that wasn't right, what was she even thinking? She was a demon. Only a demon could kill their own mother.

With this thought in her mind, the dark figure absorbed the darkness and began to expand, Faye's destroyed consciousness was restored except now it radiated bloodthirsty evil, and her red pulsating heart blackened causing the blood flowing through her veins to take on the same colour. Black cracks streaked from her eyes down to her cheeks whilst flicks of red could be swimming in the hazel pools of her eyes. The demon looked up and into the eyes of the giant knight who was preparing to execute her as the darkness whispered knowledge into her ear, knowledge that caused a feral grin to appear on her face. The captain, on the other hand, stared in shock at the girl's countenance more specifically the changes that had appeared.

'She's awakened'
