It was August, and no longer as cold as it was around July. And it being August, in the parts of the region where they lived, they didn't touch the fields at all.
The time that the villagers started going to the fields was around October, the earliest to turn the soil and prepare for the planting season. With most rains coming around December, the villagers start planting at the end of November or early December. Otherwise, the loss they would suffer would be great.
There was no more painful thing than having all the seeds to be burnt by the scorching sun because the rains hadn't fallen yet.
Calista, despite not being a farm lover herself, knew at least that much. So why should these people lie about having much to do when that wasn't the case?
