Chapter 18 - CHAPTER 18: PLANS 2

By introducing that, not only would she be able to save people but also provide them with a source of income.

When everyone has money and a secure roof over their heads, lives will be improved. She just hoped that it would work well in her favor.

The second thing on the list was to find good food suitable for winter or to sell in winter. Money can be earned any day and, in any season, as well.

As long as people have enough warm food to eat during winter, things will go perfectly as well.

In winter, it was recommended to always eat healthy food and one that was also warm to keep away the cold.

So, she was planning on maybe operating a restaurant if things work well that would sell food such as porridge, soup, warm milk, tea and a lot of vegetables.

Just thinking about that, she couldn't help but recall a certain dish which she saw in a certain place during the journey of getting a second chance. It was called a hotpot.

It was a dish that was very popular in winter, and it made people very warm. And this dish sort of matched the requirements she wanted for food suitable for winter, especially the soup and vegetable part.

Luckily, she still remembered how to prepare the dish and what would be required.

So, she added the dish and the others on the second point on the list.

For the third one, it was actually very easy for her. All she needed to do was visit the hills and mountains for free herbs or buy some in Silverbroke and use them sparingly when the time came.

And lastly, it was very important to make warm clothes. She had seen people selling yarn in town, but never once had she seen people making knitted clothes, especially for winter.

People use looms to make blankets and other products. So, yarn wasn't something new. She had to rack her brains to think of a way to produce it.

All she needed to do was make knitting needles to make the jerseys and other clothes for winter.

Thankfully, she also didn't need to worry about learning how to knit, as she had some knowledge about it.

With the four points elaborated, Calista was finally at ease and couldn't wait to start.

But first things first. Where was that man?

Meanwhile, some distance away from Cropville Village, Orson was frowning as he held two fat rabbits he had just caught a while ago.

"How can hunting be this difficult?" he couldn't help but lament as he walked back towards the village.

Earlier that day when Calista left the house without any array, honestly the first thing he thought of at that time was to take everything he suspected was what he needed and return home.

However, on second thoughts, before he could climb to the second floor to check Calista's room, warning bells sounded in his head.

Because he was muddleheaded for a moment and in urgent need of that thing, he nearly committed a grave mistake.

Knowing Calista even if it was just for a few hours, that young woman didn't do anything she wasn't confident about.

After declaring such a thing and coercing him into marriage, wouldn't she be a fool if she were to leave him like that without putting any guards?

She could freely manipulate the array and formation surrounding her house, so why did she suddenly let it down when she knew that he could run away?

He didn't believe that the array was the only protective thing around her house. He didn't want to startle the snake or make her suspicious.

He would rather wait for a bit and see how he could get what he needed properly. Any silly mistake would lead to dire consequences, and the risks were too high for him to gamble.

After sorting his thoughts, he decided to be docile and check the place around. He saw the kitten and the little thing was minding its own business without even glancing at him, so he let it be.

After padding his stomach with food, he decided to check the surrounding areas and, if he got lucky, find a few wild animals. No matter what, he couldn't just sit and let a woman take care of him.

After leaving the hill, it took him several hours before he managed to catch two rabbits. It was as if the nearby mountains didn't have a single animal at all, seeing how hard it was to catch sight of anything.

Seeing how empty the mountains were, he couldn't help but wonder what everyone ate. And thinking of Calista who loved living luxuriously, his heart couldn't help but ache for her.

That was why he tried his best to scour for any kind of animal to bring home. As long as she sees it, she will be happy and even forget that he wasn't there when she returned.

And honestly, that trick proved to be quite helpful as when he returned to the hill, he found her sitting in the gazebo sipping tea and her eyes were narrowed dangerously, that he could tell that she was indeed not very happy with his actions.

'Let's hope that the rabbits would make her forget!'

At the same time, Calista watched the two fat rabbits Orson was holding and her narrowed eyes couldn't help but return to normal as a soft smile appeared on her face.

Honestly, her thoughts had been going wild ever since she saw time trickling by without him returning. She was on the verge of giving up and thinking that he wouldn't return, so when she heard the bushes rustling, she was on guard wondering what animal in such a barren place was so daring to come to her when she didn't have a shield.

Or was it another intruder who was trying his or her luck since she lived alone?

So, when she saw him emerging from the other side holding two fat rabbits, her worries all disappeared while a smile blossomed.

He was back, and he brought meat. How could she not be happy?
