The cries of killing on the city walls were so loud that they seemed almost to drown out the sound of gunfire.

Especially at times like this, when facing those thick-skinned Sixth Order Mutant Animals such as the Mutated Rhinoceros, Mutated Buffalo, Mutated Wild Boar, and others, the suffocation was even more intense.
Not only could they withstand more bullets, but if they seized the opportunity and jumped onto the city walls, even those Sixth Order fighters would struggle to blast them back down.
With the dense offensive posture of the battlefield, a mere few seconds' delay by these Mutant Animals could allow a dozen more to leap onto the city walls.
By then, it would take a multiple of sacrifices to possibly refill that breach.
