Qi Hancai introduced the Russians and then gestured toward the bespectacled young man.
"Liu Yuming, one of our base members, currently in charge of translation."
Liu Yuming stood up and bowed, saying, "Leader!"
"Mm," Wu Heng nodded.
Qi Hancai explained, "Kadrof understands some Chinese, but sometimes he still needs translations."
The big-bearded foreigner also stood up and spoke in halting Chinese, "Thank you, Leader Wu for saving us. I visited your country five years ago and liked it here very much."
"Please, sit down!" Wu Heng sat down beside him and continued, "Welcome to our team."
"Thank you!" Kadrof expressed his thanks.
Wu Heng then asked, "How many people are in your group?"
Kadrof replied, "Six, all members of our research institute."
Normally, a refuge would have about this many people; too many would be a burden, too few would make it hard to sustain.
