Beyond their teaching duties, universities also carry out research tasks, and many exceptional college mechanists can even attain Level 5 or 6, only 1 to 2 levels below the legendary mechanists who are the Republic's top combat forces.
As such, these elite students are also core members of many university research projects. Due to their specialized areas of study, sometimes even the leading legendary mechanists need to consult them about certain issues.
To say their inventions are worthless couldn't be further from the truth as many elite college mechanists can even create mechas and battle jets...
The annual College Student Invention Competition, which draws widespread attention, is also a contest among over a hundred universities in the Star-Moon Republic that offer mechanic series programs.
