Chereads / CHARLIE BROWN / Chapter 11 - blah.. blah

Chapter 11 - blah.. blah

We all turned and stared at him. He had a confused look when Max elbowed him in the ribs, causing him to let out a loud cough. He turned to Max angrily and shouted, "What did you do that for?" " Are you such a bonehead that you can't shut your trap?" He scratched the back of his neck, faced the ground and kicked it. We crouched to the floor and Max had to pull Alex to the ground because if he hadn't, he would have got us caught. " Hey, that was rude _." He started to shout, but Seth clamped his hand over his mouth, muffling whatever he said. He shoved Seth's hand away before glaring at him. We waited silently as the guards walked away, not noticing us. We waited for a few moments before getting up and walking to the main office. When we stopped at the door, Seth pulled out a hairpin from his back_ pocket and used it to pick the lock. It only took a few seconds before the door swung open, revealing a massive room that housed an astronomical number of computers of all shapes and sizes. Max reached into his pocket and produced a flash drive which he connected to one computer and turned it on before then transferring files to the flash drive. As soon as he unplugged the flash drive, we heard footsteps approaching the door. One guard opened the door, and he stood in the doorway looking bewildered at first, then his bewilderment turned into anger. " Hey, what are you kids doing here at this time?" He yelled, shining his flashlight at us, making us shield our eyes from the light. Next to where I stood was an open window. I glanced at it and decided to jump through it. " Through here." I pointed out to my teammates as I motioned to the window. " You must be crazy." I heard Alex mutter before Max shoved him out the window, whom I assumed had had enough of Alex and his shenanigans. Before climbing out of the window himself. One by one, we all jumped out of the window, leaving an angry guard by himself in the room. My landing broke my fall on Max, who grumbled something about me being a lightweight. We all got up, dusted ourselves, and made our way to where Noah had parked the van. " Did you get it?" He asked us, but we were all too busy strapping ourselves in to answer. The guard from earlier had managed to almost catch up with us when Seth said, " Drive, drive." With those words said, Noah finally stepped on the gas pedal and the van tore away from the sidewalk as we zoomed away from there.

" Well done. You have succeeded in retrieving vital information," Cole said proudly. We all sat in his office as he debriefed us on the mission that we had just completed. " Yeah, no thanks to this Bozzo." Seth and Max said at the same time, causing Alex to sigh in exhaustion. Alex defended himself, saying, "I already said sorry. It won't happen again.". He averted his gaze to the floor when Cole spoke up, breaking the awkward silence. " you're right, it won't because from now on and until I say so, you will be joining Dez in lock up okay?" " yeah, yeah." He said absentmindedly. Cole soon dismissed us and we all exited the office, breathing sighs of relief.

We made our way down the school hallway. It was exam week, and the hallways were less crowded as most of the students decided to stay in the library for some last-minute reading. The cheerleaders were the only ones who did not seem to care. Even the gamers took a break from their games and swapped them for flashcards. We soon reached our destination, the boys' locker room. My teammates made their way inside while I stayed back.  While I stayed back, a handful of students passed by and their glances indicated that they were probably questioning the same thing as me: "What is causing the delay?" " What is the meaning of this?" The boy questioned angrily as he desperately tried to wriggle out of their grasp in vain. He soon gave up on trying to break free and kept glaring at them, not saying a word. Noah, who stood right in front of him, glared right back, making him shrink back.  " So, Is that him?" I asked, " Yeah, it's him." Seth replied as his grip on the boy tightened making him squirm in discomfort. We walked him down the hallway and to the school doors which we exited. right opposite the school was a black van. We led the boy whose name I soon learnt was Anorld Green to the van where Alex and Dez got out, handcuffed him and sat him in the back before getting into the van and driving off. The five of us walked back to the school but stopped in our tracks when we heard the tyres of the van skid to a stop and Alex and Dez jumped out of the car right before it went up in flames. We quickly rushed over to them to see if we could help in any way but the pair insisted that they were fine right before Dez dropped to the ground unconscious.  I  instantly pulled my phone out and failed Cole before calling 911.

The waiting room was deserted except for the occasional nurse who scurried through while flipping through their clipboards that probably contained patient information. Finally, after two hours, a doctor approached where we sat with a relieved look on his face.  We managed to identify the poison in his system and we now have him on dialysis to get rid of it. we will have to keep him here for two weeks but we are hopeful that he will be fine."  Cole informed us that we needed to find out who did this to Desmond and that our operation needed to be as covert as possible. He also told us that we needed to keep things under wraps.   We left the hospital thirty minutes later and set off on our new mission.
