Claudia Ross's eyes were inscrutable as they dropped, her face cycling through shades of pale, then white, then red: "Nurse, do my friends know about my miscarriage? Did you tell him?"
The nurse, remembering Mark Reed's instructions, denied categorically, "No, he doesn't know, and we haven't told him."
Thank heavens, at least Mark Reed doesn't know; otherwise, she really didn't know how she would have faced him.
Claudia Ross let out a silent sigh of relief, "Please don't tell my friends about the abortion, I beg you."
A flicker of unnoticed disdain crossed the nurse's eyes, "Okay!"
"Thank you!"
"Don't mention it!"
Claudia Ross's temperature was normal. The nurse, carrying the tray, walked out of the ward and as she reached the door, her smiling face changed, full of disgust, feeling indignant for Mark Reed: "Unappreciative of her fortunes, such a woman... tsk!"
After the nurse left, Claudia Ross tried calling Wyatt Perry, but no one answered.
