Mark Reed half-squatted beside her, involuntarily clasping her tightly clenched hand, which, despite the sweltering summer day, was surprisingly cold.
Claudia Ross shook her head, even if she needed to go to the hospital, she would go by herself; she couldn't let Mark Reed take her.
"Is it a stomachache?"
"I'm fine!" Claudia Ross forced a smile with difficulty, pulling back her hand from Mark's grip: "The pain's already gone."
Although the pain hadn't subsided, Claudia Ross bore it stoically, no longer showing any hint of it.
Mark closely scrutinized her with suspicion, not missing any sign: "Really no pain now?"
"Really, no pain now!" Claudia Ross gritted her teeth and sat up straight, asking the waiter for a new pair of chopsticks.
Mark continued to watch her, still worried.
"Let's eat, or it'll all get cold!" Claudia Ross looked up at him, her smile bright as flowers: "I'm truly fine, don't worry!"
