The morning was quiet and calm. The dew glistening in the rising sun. The songs of birds filled the air. There was a sense of momentary calm and bliss. Aylin enjoyed this peaceful morning while she ate her porridge. A humble meal but a nutritional one. Aylin believed a good meal would start her day in a good way. As Aylin was about to take another spoonful, She heard a knock on her door. She sat her spoon down and walked over to the door to answer it. When She opened the door, Aylin saw a man she did not recognize.
"Good morning Miss Aylin. I am delivering a message on behalf of Sir Ellias Stamos. He requests you at his residence by eleven o'clock today." The messenger abruptly told Aylin.
"Did he give a reason as to why I am meeting him?" Aylin questioned.
"All he said is he has something important to discuss with you." The messenger responded.
"Tell him I will be there by the requested time." Aylin said to the messenger before he left to deliver the message back to his master.
Aylin went back to eating her porridge and enjoyed what peace she had left in the morning.
As promised Aylin made her way towards Sir Ellias's residence. She enjoyed her walk taking careful observations of her surroundings. Admiring the wild flowers growing along her path, and the honey bees pollinating allowing for more flowers to grow, and songs of birds sitting way high in the trees. This land she called her home, Aylin admired its beauty. She would treasure and protect this home all she could along with people who resided in this land.
Eventually her walk reached an end, and she was standing at the gate of sir Ellias's home. She walked through the gate and up to the door. There she was greeted by the messenger.
"Welcome Miss Aylin. I will bring you to the library where Sir Ellias will meet you."
Aylin listened to the messenger and followed him to the library where she was greeted by Sir Ellias.
"Hello Miss Aylin." Sir Ellias warmly greeted her."Sit down over here."
He motioned towards a chair in front of the fireplace that had not been lit because it was early summer.
Aylin took her seat in the chair.
"Thank you Miss Aylin for coming to visit this morning. As you may already know, I have something important I need to discuss with you." Said Sir Ellias
"Yes, I am aware. What is this important thing you wish to discuss with me." Said Aylin
"Well you see Miss Aylin it is about the plague. Seeing as you did amazingly to restore my son's health, I want you to find the source of this disease and eradicate it from this village."
"That is a big thing to ask."
"I know it is. I'll make sure to compensate you properly."
"There is no need too. I would have eradicated the disease from this village even if you never asked."
"Even said. I will still Compensate you out of gratitude towards you from the village, my family, and myself as a knight."
"Thank you" Aylin said with a somber smile.
"Also there is another thing …"
Sir Ellias was interrupted by a loud intrusion. Aylin turned her head towards the intrusion with a sour look on her face. Callisto whom she had met the other day had barged into the room loud and rudely.
"Hello Sir Ellias. I have come as you requested." Callisto said haughtily.
"Ah yes Callisto, take a seat over here." Sir Ellias said.
Callisto took a seat in the chair next to Aylin
Sir Ellias looked towards Callisto and said "As I have already discussed with Aylin, I would like you two to work together to find the cause and eradicate the disease causing this plague."
"That seems like an easy enough task, I'm sure we'll be able to handle it." Callisto said confidently.
"Yes, I'm sure we will." Aylin said stiffly.
"I'm glad we are in agreement then." Sir Ellias said enthusiastically and continued "make sure you report back to me with your progress."
"As you asked, we will Sir Ellias." Callisto responded.
"I'm sure you will. I'll leave you two to discuss your plans." After saying that Sir Ellias left the room.
"Tomorrow, in front of the well in the center of the village, we will meet at noon." Aylin said sternly to Callisto.
"That's it. That's all you have to say?" Asked Callisto.
"Yes it is." Said Aylin as she started to walk out the room.
"Then I will meet you at the well at noon." Callisto responded.
Aylin kept on walking without a response and made her way back to her peaceful little cottage in the forest.
