Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : A second chance

A room filled with bags and a foul stench, Zack is an unemployed 18-year-old boy and is staring at the lines in his ceiling, counting each one while waiting for time to speed up as there was nothing else to do."I'm tired of counting; I'm so bored. "Plerrrp," his belly cried out for food.I think I should prepare some instant noodles. sigh while he gets off the bed, scratching his ass as he heads to the kitchen. On his way to the kitchen, he passed his mirror; his skin was pail and there were black bags under his eyes. When was the last time I went outside?" he mumbled to himself while he continued his pursuit for food. He opens the cupboard to get a pack of instant noodles; to his surprise, the cupboard was empty. "Eh, I guess I'm out again, he said as he let out a sigh. "I'm going to have to take a trip to the store," he thought as he slowly headed back to his room, grabbing his jacket and heading out. As he stepped out, it was like a new experience for how long he didn't leave the house, foreign to be exact, walking with his hand over his forehead to block the sun from his eyes with a limp posture."Of all times, it had to finish on a hot, sunny day, damn it, just my luck," he thought to himself. "My life would be so much easier if I didn't have to eat; then I could just sit down and binge watch anime and play video games all day; OO, that would be so convenient".

"SOMEONE HELP!" His thoughts were interrupted by the shout of a woman being mugged in an alleyway he was passing by. "Help!" "You, help me; he's trying to rob me. Please call the police, please. Zack looked in their directions, scratching his head and thinking, "Should I intervene beside? I'll be better off minding my own business anyway." As he was ready to walk away, he saw a look in her eyes, one that he knew quite well, for he too once had the same look in his own. He sighs once more as he turns in the direction of the two, walking slowly towards them with a stern expression but a lazy posture. "Hey, could you let her go? he said as he got closer. "Mind your own business, kid," the thief replied, "unless you have a death wish.". "It seems that you got this whole situation backwards," Zack replied with his hand over his face as he rushed in to attack with a kick to the sternum, pushing the thief a couple meters back from the damsel in distress. Hey, lady, are you o Zack said as he scratched his head. "You really shouldn't steal from people; didn't your parents teach you that, or to never strike a lady? Tell me they at least thought you that much. The thief looked mad and irritated by Zack and charged at him, yelling, "I'll kill you." Zack dodged him with no effort and sent him flying into the wall with a solid kick to the head. "Now scram or I'll just continue to beat you senseless," he said, but to his surprise, the thief smiled, and immediately Zack could feel something sharp pierce his side, sending him to his knees in excruciating pain. He looked up to see that the one that stabbed him was the woman, the very woman he just saved. Zack POV:As I lay on the ground in pain, It was clear to me what was really going on.

"Get up, you useless trash," she said to the thief. "You couldn't even take out a kid; honestly, you're useless. Hurry and check his pockets for cash. When I walked past him earlier, he was mumbling something about going to the supermarket. Naïve children, always playing hero, now look where that got you," she said mockingly as I lay their bleeding out hearing everything.

"I'm going to die. I'm really going to die an 18-year old virgin nobody who didn't do anything with his life.

[Flashback]:Since before my mother died, I was abused by her because, when I was born, my father left. For some weird reasons, he didn't want me, saying I was not his child but the child of the devil. When I exited my mother's womb, the doctor said I never cried; despite all their efforts, I just couldn't. In my childhood years, nothing really changed either, so I would get bullied and called a freak, so I didn't make any friends. My mother then passed away 2 years ago, and since then I have become a shut-in all I did was play video games and watch anime all day, bottling up my sorrow and ignoring what I truly feel inside.Suddenly, a bulk of rage and sadness overflowed Zack. "Hahahahaha Hahaha hee," Zack screamed in laughter. Now I remember, now I understand, that there's no good or evil in this world; only strength and cunningness determine what is which. If only I knew this before, only if I minded my own business and let her die, I would still be alive.Zack was having an internal conflict with himself as he saw the world for the first time ever. He decided that helping others was a waste of time and that strength and cunningness were all that really mattered in this life. This is the first time he has ever thought about life and what it means to him. Because of his new awareness and understanding of life,he develops a twisted morality. "All I need is one more shot, only if God could give me one chance, just one more," he said, pleased with himself, and at his last breath, he thought, "I understand, there is no god, or else there wouldn't be such a messed up world.".A screen appeared: "GAME OVER,WOULD U LIKE TO RESTART?".
