Of Course it was the easiest task in the kitchen. Abi rolled her eyes at his boosting reply. But she still decided to praise him.
"Yes, there is nothing diffi…cult." she stared at the peels that had half of the carrot hanging on them then at the small pieces he was making of the sickly lean carrot now left in his hands. The cubes were perfect as if he had measured them slowly with the tools of the modiste but most of the eating part was gone.
When she did not reply. He turned to look at her face beaming with joy. He looked like a child who was waiting to get appreciation from his parents.
She did not know whether to laugh or cry at the situation.
"Abigail.." he looked at her quizzically when she did not reply but kept staring at the carrots as if they would talk to her if she asked enough. But then a plausible idea crossed his mind. "Do not be so proud of me. We are not going to work in the kitchen again." She nodded at once.
