Abi laughed when she found Jamie staring at his clothes again. He looked lost in the uniform of the coachmen. His eyes flickered when he heard her laughter.Â
"What happened? Is the great lord not comfortable with the clothes of a servant?" if the words were meant to hurt, they did. He sat straighter at once and looked out of the window. Abi followed the course and asked the coachmen to stop the carriage.
"But we are in the middle of nowhere, Abigail." The man frowned and looked around but she just shook her head.
"You can not expect to go out of the carriage wearing these kinds of clothes. You have to walk a bit." his face went dark and he muttered a curse under his breath as he followed her.
His eyes took in everything offered to him. The streets looked different, broken with mud poodles and rotten garbage on both sides. He had never seen the sky getting so dark without clouds.
Smoke and dirt and something filthy had filled the air.
