Abi closed her eyes as she readied herself for a landing punch but it did not come. So she opened her eyes to see what changed him. He was going to beat her, it was written all over his face. She gasped with widened eyes when her eyes met the rich bloke again.
Dion was holding Dallon's hands in mid air. When their eyes met, he nodded at her with a strange courtesy that left a better taste in her mouth. Just a minute ago, he wanted to wash hands because he had touched her and now.. He was saving her and that was all that mattered. She told herself as she took a step back ready to run.
They both could handle each other and when they were done, she would be far far away from here. But her hopes were short lived. Just when Dallon struggled to get his arm free and cursed the rich bloke, her father came and held her wrist.
"Where do you think you are going, you bitch?" he pressed her arm strongly to hurt her. She struggled against her father when she heard a smashing sound and noticed every head snapped towards Dallon and the rich bloke. Her eyes bulged when she noticed Dallon had smashed a bottle on the head of the rich man. He was looking dizzy and staggering.
"Careful." she warned but Dallon turned to look at her with a snicker.
"You are going to pay for this Abigail. I am going to make sure that you pay for everything." Abi gulped, her heart was in her throat. How she wanted to run away but at the same time she knew it was not possible. She had to bear all this. This was her hell.
Dallon let go of the rich bloke and came for her again but her eyes bulged further if that was even possible when she saw the rich bloke coming for Dallon. He took quick steps and held the shirt of Dallon from behind.
"I have never lost a fight. You could not be the first to change my status.'' With that, he raised Dallon in the air as if he weighed nothing and then threw him on the ground.
The scenes earned many gasps and screams. Everyone took a step back. But no one interfered, a few cheered of course and even placed the bets. Her father was determined to not let her go.
"Bitch, tell him to retreat or I will strangle you." ha! Did he think she was a fool? If he did, then he would be a fool.
She faked innocence on her face.
"Stop him. But I don't even know him. It was Dallon who challenged the man by pushing me away when was flirting with me. I didn't even know that he was coming to attack Dallon." which was true. Perhaps her father had seen the scene too. He went silent and studied Abi as if looking for something and then sneered.
"Well, it did not matter. They could fight to death for all I care. You are coming with me. Mark had entered the room already." he announced with a smug look on his face that she wanted to punch him. Punch him! Yes, that was the perfect moment of doing that.
All her life she had been afraid of this man. She had been hiding in the dark to make sure that she did not face him. If she beat him… she stared hard at him and raised her hands but they were lax, weak. She could not overcome the fear she had for him.
"Do not dare to act funny, my precious daughter. Or you are going to regret it." That was the line he had told her everyday when he had asked for his share of money. When he had asked her to work till late or asked her to deliver strange things in the dark alleys. And she had always obeyed. Even today, her body obeyed instinctively because of the fear instilled in her heart.
But her mind refused to oblige. She had obeyed him all her life only to end up in a bar being sold. This man did not deserve her fear, her obedience. With that she raised her feet as if she was taking a step further but she stomped his feet with force. The heels he had chosen for her to look sexy dug deep into his feet. His face scrunched up and he groaned. His hands reached for his feet and he howled.
"Abigail, how dare you!" but his action was enough to get her hands free. She rubbed her arm and ran. She could still hear the screaming and cheering of others. She knew the fight was going on. The rich bloke was fighting for her but all she cared about was… her mother.
She would find her, take her and then they would run away. She would never look back at this dark place. She ran faster and faster pushing everyone on her way. but just when she was closer to the door, she noticed another man who had accompanied her father. He was talking with Mark and four more men. If they found her. She took a step back and hid in the crowd.
She had to look for alternative exits. She hid behind a seat and waited. The man had finished the conversation as they were looking around now and then. She realized they were waiting for her and her father. Perhaps they didn't not know about the fight but they would know about it soon.
Another loud cheer filled the whole building and then she noticed how a woman held the hand of a man and took the route of the kitchen. Perhaps that was an alternative exit. She looked around and noticed many were busy with the fight and had left their seats with their cloaks. She picked one and covered her face well with it as she followed the trail of the kitchen.
"Freedom, I am coming."
