As we parked the car outside the rundown warehouse, an air of desolation hung heavy over the surrounding area. The dilapidated building, surrounded by neglected fields and decaying structures, spoke of forgotten dreams. Johnny, exited first and headed straight toward the warehouse.
Inside the car I placed my hand on Pierce's shoulder as he prepared to follow Johnny, holding him back for a moment. "Is everything okay with Johnny?" I asked, concern lacing my voice.
Pierce turned to me, a frown creasing his forehead. "Why do you ask?" he queried.
"In less than seven hours, you'll be risking your life," I began, "You're going after a corporate rat, but at what cost?"
Pierce's eyes darkened, his voice lowering. "It's not just any corporate rat. He's the man who killed his wife... and my lover."
