Chapter 59 - Chapter 59: “Harry's 11th Birthday and Hogwarts Letter”

Oct 12, 1988

Harry woke up filled with excitement for the day he'd receive his Hogwarts letter. Even though he was mentally much older and he should not have been excited about this letter, but the letter represented the start of many new adventures in his life, so it was hard not to feel thrilled about it.

More than anything, Harry looked forward to selecting his own wand and, now that he was turning eleven, claiming his rightful Potter heir ring. Outmaneuvering Dumbledore and his own parents' plans for Charles to inherit the ring, effectively nullifying their justification for leaving Harry with the Dursleys, filled Harry with a sense of satisfaction and validation.

However, beneath his excitement, Harry had a lingering concern. If Dumbledore paid close attention to this year's Hogwarts letters, he might discover Harry's survival and his residence at the Black Castle. Harry had shared his worries with Arcturus, who had assured him there was nothing to worry about.

Still slightly uneasy, Harry had even suggested maybe they should stay at Tom's place in Diagon Alley for a week around his birthday to avoid any unnecessary attention. However, Arcturus confidently maintained that the castle's hidden location was secure from Dumbledore's prying eyes, encouraging Harry not to feel the need to hide. Arcturus reminded him that he had powerful support behind him, and Harry didn't need to face Dumbledore or any challenges alone.

"But what if my parents try to take me back forcibly? They are still my legal guardians, after all," Harry asked, voicing another concern.

Arcturus reassured him, "Sirius and I have already considered such possibilities. Sirius foresaw this day coming and has prepared accordingly to ensure your safety. For now, focus on enjoying your birthday, getting your new wand, and receiving the Potter heir ring. We'll discuss our countermeasures in detail later."

Harry, though curious about these plans, chose to trust in Arcturus and Sirius's judgment. Comforted by their assurance, he decided to celebrate his birthday at Black Castle, embracing the day with confidence.

Harry got ready for his special day feeling lighter than he had in ages. For once, he allowed himself a break from the rigorous routine of exercises and studies that filled his days.

Today was all about celebrating with the people who mattered most to him. Harry couldn't help but smile at the thought of getting everyone together again, something that hadn't happened since Sirius and Amelia's wedding.

As he made his way downstairs, Harry noticed Vardey, Kreacher, and Mira, the three dedicated house-elves of the Black household, busily setting up for the evening's celebration. They were determined to make this birthday unforgettable for Harry, involving only his closest friends and family in the celebration. The guest list was indeed select: Arcturus, Sirius, Amelia, Susan, Emma, David (Emma's husband), and Cordelia.

Breakfast was a quiet affair with Arcturus, as Sirius had already left for work. The anticipation for the day's main event made even the morning meal feel special. Then, as the clock struck 10, the moment Harry had been eagerly awaiting finally arrived. A tired owl flew through an open window, clutching the official Hogwarts letter Harry had been dreaming of.

Harry carefully took the letter from the owl, making sure to treat it with the respect it deserved. He asked Mira to look after the exhausted bird, providing it with some food and water to help it recover from its long journey.

Unfolding the letter with a blend of reverence and eagerness, Harry scanned the contents, his eyes sparkling with joy and anticipation:

A radiant smile blossomed on Harry's face. "It's official, then," he whispered to himself, a flutter of excitement coursing through him.

He knew he had time to send back his acceptance. There was almost a whole year left before he would step through the gates of Hogwarts, a year he planned to use wisely to prepare and achieve as much as he could.

"Off you go," Harry gently told the now re-energised owl, watching it take off into the sky, "See you in September, Hogwarts."

Even though he was eager to venture into Diagon Alley and choose his very first wand, Harry decided that particular adventure would have to wait. Today was reserved for celebration, for the joy of turning another year older surrounded by those who had become his chosen family.

As the evening approached, the castle was abuzz with preparations. The birthday celebration was nothing short of magical, with an abundance of games that had everyone laughing and competing in friendly rivalry. The laughter that filled the room was infectious, binding everyone closer in a shared joy.

The table was laden with an array of delicacies that Mira had outdone herself preparing, each dish more tantalizing than the last. Friends and family gathered around, sharing stories and making new memories. Harry found himself amidst this warmth, feeling a profound sense of belonging and gratitude.

As the party drew to a close, Harry took a moment to reflect on the day's events. Surrounded by the laughter of his friends and the comforting presence of his family, he made a silent promise to himself. He vowed to cherish these moments, to protect this newfound family with every fiber of his being, and to ensure their happiness in the years to come.

Filled with hope and resolve, Harry looked forward to the adventures that awaited him at Hogwarts and beyond. He knew that whatever challenges might come his way, the love and support of his family would always be there to give him strength.

"Here's to a year filled with new adventures, learning, and making sure my loved ones are always safe and happy," Harry thought to himself, his eyes shining with anticipation for what was to come.
