-Chapter 160-

-4 moons later-

-21st day of the 7th moon of the year 300 AC-

-POV Brandon Stark-

I woke up in the middle of a wolf's den, dazed and confused about the reason that had brought me to this place.

I quickly left this place only to find myself face to face with a lizard-lion less than two meters away from me, wading in the water.

The hair on my entire body stood on end from the tension I was feeling, and a low growl started to emanate from my throat.

It took several seconds for me to understand that the growl I was emitting was not human.

I lowered my eyes to look at my reflection and what I saw was not me, no, it was Summer, my wolf.

I frowned and finally understood that I had entered my wolf's skin, just like the Wargs of ancient times.

'Jon talked to me about this a long time ago,' I thought, remembering how strongly he believed in all this.

"You think you've entered your wolf's skin, don't you?" said the giant lizard in front of me.

Hearing this animal speak to me like a human froze me instantly and I instinctively wanted to run away, but it reassured me and said:

"Don't worry, it's me, don't you recognize my voice?"

I frowned then squinted before asking: "Is that you, Jojen?"

'The last time I saw him was at the Harvest Festival, he and his sister accompanying their father,' I thought, finally understanding who I was talking to.

"Yes, it's me," he said.

"But how can you talk to me and how can you understand me?" I said because I was not speaking but thinking, and he seemed to hear my thoughts.

"We are not in reality, we are in your dream," he said before stopping and looking at a strange bird that had three eyes: "In fact, it would be more accurate to say that we are in his dream."

"Who is it?" I asked Jojen.

"I am the three-eyed crow," said the bird.

"I summoned both of you here because I need you to intervene with Aegon Targaryen," said the three-eyed crow.

I squinted and asked suspiciously: "Why don't you summon him in one of your dreams like you did with me?"

The three-eyed crow remained silent for a few seconds and then said: "I could not change anything and he might kill me for a reason I do not understand."

"How do you know that?" I asked, still suspicious.

This time he did not answer, but Jojen said: "It's because he has the gift of greensight."

I raised an eyebrow and asked: "What is greensight?"

"It's a gift that allows you to see in dreams events that will happen in the future, but in a more imagery and imprecise way," said Jojen.

"And every time I used my gift to try to glimpse a future where I talked with your brother, a green dragon reduced me to ashes," said the three-eyed crow.

"What would you want me to ask my brother?" I asked without letting my guard down.

"Simply that he helps the free folk beyond the wall to resist the enemy of all humans," said the three-eyed crow.

"They refused his help," I said, because when we sent each other letters, I asked him why the wildlings attacked us and why we didn't let them live on our lands if they were fleeing something, as Jon told me.

"No, he imposed surrender on them to save their lives," said the crow in a neutral tone but still carrying a trace of perceptible resentment.

"That's not true," I said.

"They are a proud people, he asked them to abandon their traditions and everything that makes their history to become his subjects," said the three-eyed crow.

I frowned and then said: "If they wanted to save their people, they would have agreed to submit."

The three-eyed crow sniffed and then said: "This is not the time to think selfishly. All the kingdoms of men must unite without delay; otherwise, this is what awaits you, young wolf, your brother, and all the people you cherish."

I felt the world spin around me before falling long into the void, only to find myself in a snowy forest.

I looked for Jojen and the three-eyed crow, but neither was present, so I advanced into the cold until I heard the voices of a group of people coming in my direction.

The sounds approached quickly and what I saw froze me: hundreds of people trying to flee in all possible directions while thousands of undead pursued them.

The ensuing carnage was horrible, it only took a few minutes for the group of hundreds of men to be torn apart by the undead.

"Aaaaah"

I turned to the right and saw an ice spear pierce the chest of a man who was two centimeters away from me. From behind a tree, I saw for the first time in my life what Old Nan had been telling us since we were little... a white walker.

He walked past me, paralyzed, before pulling his spear from the man's chest.

He stood for a few seconds in front of his corpse before it rose with a gaping hole, blue eyes, and pale skin.

The White Walker froze and then turned in my direction.

I didn't dare take the slightest breath that would betray my presence, even though I understood that the others couldn't see me.

But I don't know why this white walker could sense my presence.

He grabbed my neck, and for a second, I thought he was really going to get me, but I woke up with a start.

'I must absolutely talk to Jon,' I thought, taking a moment to look around to reassure myself.

Even though I was back in my room, I couldn't help but fear that the white walkers would return to finish the job.

-POV Jojen Reed-

"Jojen, Jojen, Jojen"

"Yes," I said, breathing with difficulty.

"You did it again," said my sister.

"I know, I was able to talk to Brandon Stark," I said with a big smile because it had been a long time since I wanted to contact him through greensight.

'Since the first time we saw each other when we visited Winterfell at the Harvest Festival,' I thought.

Meera, my sister, looked surprised that I could talk to Bran in my dream, and then she said: "Is he like you and father too?"

I nodded and then told her everything that had happened in our dream.

She took the time to listen to me before saying: "We should talk to father, this kind of thing is not right."

"No, we can't. We must do what the three-eyed crow asked us, the future of the whole world is at stake, we can't risk messing it all up because we are afraid."

"It's too great a responsibility for one person," said Meera.

I could see the worry she had for me, but I did not give in and said: "We all have our role to play."

She was about to say something else, but I raised my hand and said in a determined tone:

"We must bring Bran to the three-eyed crow so he can inherit his power and find a way to defeat the Night King."

'I am certain that the only path to follow is the one the three-eyed crow and the old gods have laid out for us,' I thought, staring at my sister who resigned herself.

"Fine, but we will have to leave in a few hours if we want to reach Winterfell on time."

I smiled and thanked my sister before dozing off.

Drawing so much from the magic of the old gods exhausted me mentally, but in an hour I would be ready to leave.
