The door creaks open into the main area of the Strike Team bunks. It would be mostly desolate, with no one in the lit rooms. Attached to the main area, was two hallways. The east wing, leading to the kitchen, dining room, living room, and showers. The west wing led to rooms, one for each member of a strike team. None of the rooms seemed to have anyone in them, except for one of the bunks, which had music coming from it's door.
"Alright, this is where you'll be living for as long as you remain in the team." Joseph tells Lena. Lena responds, "Who's in that room?" She would be pointing at the room where the music was coming from. Joseph replies, "Must be Roy. He's the tank of the team. Anyways, let's get you to your room!" Joseph drags Lena over to the end of the west wing. There were 3 rooms that had no one in them. "They're basically the same inside, just a bed, TV, and some drawers. But, I'll let you choose." Lena would walk up to the room in the middle of the hallway, and open the door. "Yeah, I think I'll choose this one." Lena says. Joseph tosses over a key, and tells Lena, "Alright! I'll get someone to deliver your belongings. I'll be in the living room though." Joseph walks off, and Lena would be alone.
Lena walks into her room, and closed the door. She walks up to the window, and looks out of it, somberly. As she does, she sees a car puling up to the steps leading to the entrance of the apartment. She walks down to the entrance, and sees a man wearing a trench coat and a Gatsby Cap. He would be carrying the things that she brought with her, just a bag and a briefcase. He would put it down in front of her. As he was walking away, he said, "You know, Fate said that you should be prepared for a mission in exactly 1 hour." Lena responded, "What?" but, the man moved along, and left. Lena thought of how unusual that encounter was.

About 30 minutes later, after Lena had finished setting up her room, she heard weird sounds from the common area. She went to go investigate, and as she did, she saw Joseph and some other man playing a arcade cabinet. The man seemed to have a metallic left arm. She went up to them and said, "Aren't we apart of the military? What are you all doing?" Joseph responded, while playing the game, "First, that's technically correct, but second, most of what we do is just police work and bureaucracy, with the occasional operation. Only me, Joseph, and Roy have actually served in war." Lena asks, "Who's Roy?" Joseph points to the man with the metal arm.
Lena would go to sit down next to them, and asks, "So, how did you get that injury?" Roy replies, "I got it from a bomb I was trying to defuse, but it's no worries. It works a little better than my old arm, especially in this line of work." Joseph then asks, "So, Lena, what's up with magic? It's so confusing, every time Michael explains it, it gets another, like five rules." Lena sighs, before saying, "Magic is essentially a energy source. It's like a cheat sheet, in that for any reaction, it can function as another element or variable, allowing you to cheat out fire or lightning. The more elements it transforms to, the more mana it takes. And, mana refills just like normal energy, with food." Joseph replies, "Alright, I kinda… got that. But, how do you all cast all of those things?" Lena continues, "There's three major ways to cast magic. First, is by thinking, and envisioning what you want to perform in your mind, before executing it. Then, physically, by performing a motion to start it. Finally, by verbally afferming the casting using a word. These can be used individually or in tandum, and, the more complex the magic, the more actions are needed." Joseph looked dumbfounded, before saying, "I guess that
makes sense, I know Ken has some kind of magic of his own, but I don't know much about it." Lena asks, "Who's Ken?" Roy responds, "A guy we used to know pretty well. He's in a different group now." They would be quiet for a little bit, until a couple minutes later, Lena asks, "So, can I ask my own question?" Joseph replies, "Sure, ask away." Lena asks, "What's up with Michael?" Joseph says, "What do you mean what's up with Michael?" Lena responds, "Well, it's just that he has a certain air, a aura around him, it's impossible to describe." Joseph sighs, with a somber look on his face, and says, "Michael... Michael's had a hard time. I don't want to say everything, and it isn't my place to say anything, but he's had a hard life." They would once again stop talking for a bit, before the phone rang. Lena went to go pick up the phone, but right before she did, Joseph says, "One last thing... don't mention his dad around him, or talk about his father in any way. It won't go well.
Lena would pick up the phone.
"Hey, it's Michael. We have a operation."
