Chapter 123 - V2Ch-56-Second Evolution

As soon as I finished practicing my body cultivation, I immediately checked the state of my body, starting with my cores. This was a mistake, as the moment I looked at my cores, all I got was a glimpse of the built-up energy outside them before all that energy rushed in, causing my cores to go past their maximum capacity and break through to the next stage.

This also resulted in my cores becoming depleted of energy and creating a vacuum that pulled all the surrounding Qi into my body. Not all of this Qi made it to my core, though, as a large chunk of it fused with my body instead, creating more Chi.

Since I now had more Chi to work with, I decided to continue with my body tempering practice, which lasted for about another hour as I broke through to the completed stage of blood tempering.

Ending my practice and opening my eyes, I saw that the horizon was beginning to light up with the first lights of dawn. It was not enough to bring any light to the world yet, but the slight coloration of the sky was already there.

With my training done and having moved onto the seventh stage in my cultivation, I opened my status panel to see the changes.

From what I could see, I had not managed to acquire any new traits or other major changes yet. However, the sight of my three physical stats having increased by an additional three times was amazing.

I was then about to close the status screen when I caught a glimpse of something else having changed at the top that I was not paying attention to. Looking over at it, I saw the bold, glorious words saying that I could evolve again.

Seeing that, I ran towards the center of the shrine, only stopping when I was near the statue of Elinaria.

This was how I evolved previously, and I was not about to test my theory about evolving outside of the shrine anytime soon.

Quickly opening the evolution menu, I checked to see if the evolution settings from last time were still present.

They were, and the only thing that had changed was that there was now a percentage indicator next to the goal of modernization, showing 0.0001%. I was not entirely sure how that happened, but I was not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

I then went to look for the next evolution I wanted to take, finding it very quickly as there were only nine options remaining.

[Saintess Kitsune of the Endless Tides (One-Tailed)]

{Only one Saintess of each element can appear in the kitsune race at a time. However, You break this convention because of the element of water's favor towards you. While choosing this option would normally cause the elements of fire and earth to no longer favor you, they have heard of your intention and have all chosen to assist you in this endeavor.}

{By choosing this option, your tail will be aspected towards Primordial water, The queen of all water, and give you the most powerful law of water possible outside of water-based races such as the Midgard serpent.}

Choosing this option resulted in an eruption of water all around me that soon wrapped me up like some sort of weird cocoon.

This did not concern me much, as I soon felt an all-consuming pain erupt from the base of my tail.

I would have started screaming at this point, but I was unable to as the water had collapsed down and filled the entire space I was in, preventing me from breathing. This only filled my mind with fear as I thought I was going to drown under this influx of water while I accidentally had some water rush into my lungs from the silenced scream.

The pain then erupted again before calming down as the water surrounding me collapsed into an expanding puddle of water that I was now lying in the middle of.

I started coughing up all the water in my lungs as I was trying to gasp for air now that I could.

This did not last much longer, as when I cleared all the water from inside my body, I started noticing the decreasing light around me. I was not able to ponder this for very long, though, as I soon felt everything slip away as the world faded into darkness.
