Johanna now began experimenting with her own body to try and figure out how this cloning thing works, but it wasn't very easy, just like she had expected. The first thing she tried was to make her brain bigger. It wasn't very secretive, but it wouldn't matter if she could find the human body before dawn. Her second try was a little better but still far from optimal; she just increased the number of brains in her skull while reducing her main one's size. This did work out, but she still had to switch between her brains. They were able to operate like stupider versions of humans, but it was still a very strange feeling that she simply didn't enjoy at all, and she had no other option for now other than this. Johanna started to set up more bodies since one was simply not enough to search through a whole country quickly enough, but after setting up about 20 of them, which all were about 10 inches tall, so very small, she was already pretty exhausted, and her exhaustion was only growing larger by the second, since magical energy was now acting like a nerve transferring information through the air, and with more distance, the magical energy required also increased.
There was a solution to this problem, though: magical energy is absorbed in the air through the pores of the skin, or at least thats what she had learned from the scientist, which gave her the idea to increase the size of the spores and increase the amount of pores on her skin. She tried it out immediately since her magical power was getting close to running out, but finding and willingly changing the pores on one's body wasn't as simple as she had thought. Changing the general form, shape or color was easy since it didn't require any detailed changes, but with pores on the skin, it was a whole other story. But after focusing hard and one or two times changing her skin, she was finally able to increase the size from about a nanometer to three, which didn't seem like much at first but would theoretically increase her mana input by three times, and luckily it worked just like that; her mana pool was filling up quickly now. After about a minute, her mana pool was completely full again, and Johanan began to create another ten mini-clones. She couldn't estimate if 30 in total were enough, but she knew that fitting in more than 30 mini brains in her skull would be impossible, so she just didn't create more and hoped it would be enough.
After she had done that, she needed to bring them as close to Wokou as possible, even though she was probably somewhere at the border, and her best guess was that he was either inside the capital or somewhere close to it, but she of course couldn't guarantee it, which is why she decided to launch them deeper inside the country. By launching, she meant exactly that: she would turn herself into a giant slingshot and launch them through the country, only after securing them by giving them an extra skin layer as hard as a rock that could also make them stone balls, just like certain droids from a popular movie series from her old world.
Johanna searched for two suitable trees but decided on rocks instead since she could launch them farther this way, and after turning her whole body into a giant rubbery slingshot and drawing herself about 100 meters back with the help of the clones, she was ready to launch the first one. It walked into the point in the slingshot where it would be fired from, and after Johanna gave it a small countdown, she launched the clone of herself far into the distance, but since she needed to know where it was flying too, she switched her brain and viewed exactly what the clone was seeing.
The clone soared through the sky, over the overly vast forest that seemed to have no end at all, in the matter of only a few seconds, which was an astronomically beautiful thing that sadly had to end after a few more seconds as she hit the ground, creating a huge splash of dirt and dust as she landed in some random fields near a small town. It was definitely farther away than Johanna had ever seen, but it was probably not far enough since she didn't see a large town throughout her flight, so she switched back to her original body, which was already being drawn back again by the other clones. This time she would try to shoot as far as possible, at a 45-degree angle. Once she was drawn again, another clone hopped in and was launched again.
