Johanna summoned her encyclopedia into her hands—God knows where it has been all this time—and began to flip through the pages, looking for the page with the slime inside of it. As she was flipping through the pages, the scientist was not only fascinated by the ability of Johanna to summon the book but also highly surprised by the content of the book.
"Wait a second, is this the encyclopedia? But why is yours so big?"
"Yes, it is."
Johanna responded nonchalantly, but after flipping through a few more pages, she looked up.
"How do you know the encyclopedia?"
"What do you mean by that? It was published by the Adventurers Guild a few months ago, and it caused a huge ruckus since it contained so many details and even graded the monsters with incredible precision; all those informations were even a shock to our research department; the only bummer was that it wasn't finished and the guild only reported that a woman had stolen it from them."
"This fucker... anyways, yes, it is the full version of it, and yes, I am the chosen thieve, but in actuality, I was the sort of creator and only sold it to them, but that fucker locked me up, blah blah blah long story short, I took it back, and now Im a wanted criminal on this continent, and no one will get the whole thing except for me, so don't even try it."
"Fine, but anyway, what are you looking for?"
"Not your business."
He sighed and just turned away while Johanna continued to skimmer through the book pages, and once she found the book page for the slimes, it was just like she had expected; the book page did in fact not turn green, so it seems like the physical body does indeed need the monster's soul inside of it, so fucking the scientist was kind of useless if you forget the pleasure it brought to both of them. Johanna now had nothing to do with this scientist any longer, and since he had no use for her, she decided that she would say her goodbye and then leave him behind so that he could continue his mission and she could continue hers.
"Well, now that everything is cleared up, why don't we say our goodbyes? I go north, and you go south."
"Wait, wait, wait, why don't you stay here with me a while longer? I could. I could. Yes! I could teach you some magic."
It was a good proposal that Johanna had to seriously consider, since magic is a very essential thing in this world and it would be hard to learn it from someone else, especially if the one who offers to teach her is a magical researcher and probably very proficient in magic.
"Give me some time to think about it."
"Sure."
Johanna sat down at the campfire, pondering all of this. If she were to accept his offer, he would surely try to get some information out of her, and he would do anything necessary, seeing as he was erasing his memory. Another problem could be that the egg hatches, which would put the child in huge danger, and another thing is that she wanted to do some traveling and fucking, and now she would have to be together with someone again and spend her time with him.
After thinking it through thoroughly, she thought of a compromise: she would listen to his teachings and practice magic for a week together with him, and she would give him one page worth of information out of the encyclopedia for everyday that he teaches her, so that in the end she learns magic and he also receives what he wants. Johanna recommended this idea to him. He tried to change this deal, making her stay longer, but after Johanna didn't give any room for negotiation, he had to agree to the deal, and Johanna's first magical lesson immediately began.
To Johanna's disappointment, he only started with boring theoretical knowledge that wasn't really useful except for a few notable things, like that mana is absorbed through pores in the skin or that you can train the maximum amount of magical power within your magical core. Those informations were quite useful, but Johanna knew that the scientist was just playing a game with her; he tried to waste the week and teach her absolutely nothing more than surface-level things so that she wouldn't have any other option than to agree to extend the deal. But since Johanna was the one to recommend this deal, she couldn't go complain to him after only the first day of lessons, and although she didn't like the thought of it, it looked like she would have to waste her week here with him and hope that she would pick up enough knowledge to teach herself the rest.
