Renzor approached Rex and the others, prompting Leo and Selena to leap in front, bodies tense. "Who are you?" Selena demanded, voice sharp with anger.
"Easy, I'm here to help," Renzor replied, raising his hands. "Is this everyone? Where is Aya?"
"Mom is fighting the knights. She told us to run," Liliana explained, her voice trembling.
Renzor nodded gravely. He turned to a skeleton knight, "You, go kill your friend. I'll join you shortly."
"As you command," the skeleton knight whispered, then ran towards Aya and Blue.
"W-what is that?" Liliana asked, fear evident.
"A creation of mine. Don't worry, it won't harm your mother," Renzor reassured.
Kayden stepped up. "Did you see our father? Is he okay?" Rex asked hopefully.
Renzor hesitated. "Yes, but he's safe now," he answered softly, face hidden by his hood.
Relief washed over the group. Liliana hugged Renzor, tears streaming. "Thank you," she whispered.
