Renzor followed Vaella through the narrow mountain paths, the air growing colder and thinner with each step. Jagged peaks loomed overhead, casting long shadows across the rugged landscape. The wind whistled through the crags, its mournful sound echoing tales of forgotten ages.
"All young dragonkin go through this trial, and many perish in the process," Vaella remarked, noticing Renzor's hesitation. "But remember, don't let your guard down, not for a second."
Renzor steeled his resolve. "I understand."
They reached a crevasse, so deep and narrow that the bottom was cloaked in darkness. "Now all you have to do is jump," Vaella said, a slight smirk on her lips.
"Into that?" Renzor exclaimed, his voice tinged with disbelief. "There's no way I'll survive that."
Vaella chuckled softly. "The trial has already begun, Renzor. This is merely the first of many challenges."
