Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Escaping the Darkness

Jirin screams, "LET HER GO!" He struggles, trying to break free.

I squeeze her neck and she is gasping for air.

"Please...Renzor, sto-" Before she can finish her sentence, I throw her on the ground.

"KIIIIIRAAAAA!!!!!!" Marlia's cry pierced the air, her form materializing before me in an instant, sword drawn. With a swift swing, she aimed for my head, but I intercepted her attack with a single hand.

"You monster! How dare you hurt my child!" Marlia's voice shook with fury as she lunged forward with her blade, but I effortlessly sidestepped her assault.

Enraged, Marlia unleashed a barrage of strikes, her sword slicing through the air in a desperate attempt to land a blow.

'How boring. This woman poses no challenge for us.' The voice says annoyed.

With a decisive motion, I grab Marlia's blade, shattering it. She stared in disbelief at her broken weapon as I discarded it, a smile playing across my lips as I advanced towards her, fist clenched.

"Renzor, don't!" Jirin's voice echoed, his struggles intensifying in a futile attempt to break free.

"MOTHER!" Kira's desperate cry echoed through the chaos.

My fist connected with Marlia's stomach with a sickening thud, and she crumpled to the ground in agony. Her eyes pleaded with me, filled with a terror that only fueled my sadistic pleasure.

"Renzor, please, I beg you, spare my daughter," Marlia pleaded, her voice trembling with fear.

I grab her by her hair and pull her face close to mine. "Beg?" I say, slapping her.

"Please, Renzor. I beg of you, don't hurt her." She says in fear.

"Renzor, please stop, I have freed you, let's just leave. I lov-" Kira cries.

"Shut Up!" I yell, Kira gets scared and stays silent.

I stare at Jirin and Marlia.

'Kill them, show no mercy.'

"You have no idea what you have unleashed, Renzor," Jirin says, glaring at me. "You kill any of us, and what is to come will be your doing."

"I don't care," I dismiss, lifting my hand and taking aim at Marlia's head. With a flick of my fingers, a spell weaves into existence, conjuring a searing ball of flame within my grasp.

'Yes, yes, yes, YES! Show no mercy, let her suffer, show him the meaning of pain.'

"Renzor, NO!" Kira's desperate plea slices through the tension.

"RENZOOOOOOOOR!" Jirin's roar reverberates as he channels all his strength, breaking free from his bindings and hurtling towards me with unwavering determination.

Before Jirin can reach me, I unleash the fire ball towards Marlia. Yet, my aim falters as an unexpected force propels me backward, crashing into the fountain and shattering it into pieces.

"Marlia, are you okay?" Cyril's concern manifests as he kneels beside her, his gaze filled with worry.

"Yes, I am fine, thank the gods," Marlia manages to reassure, though a hint of apprehension lingers as she clutches her stomach. Her gaze then shifts to Cyril's chest, her expression morphing into one of sheer terror.

"Cyril, oh no, no, no. This is bad," she urges urgently, her voice trembling with fear.

Confusion clouds Cyril's features as he attempts to comprehend the situation. "What hap-" His words are abruptly silenced as a searing pain rip through his chest. Gasping, he coughs up blood and collapses to his knees, his gaze fixated on the gaping hole in his chest.

"Marlia..." Cyril's voice trails off, fading into darkness as his lifeless body hits the ground.

"NOOO!" Marlia's anguished cry fills the air, echoing with raw grief.

"UNCLE!" Kira's own scream reverberates with heart-wrenching despair.

"BROTHER!" Jirin's shout resounds, his agony palpable.

'Yes, yes, yes. That was amazing, let's do it again. More, we want more. Make them scream in terror.' The voice's excitement resonates, a chilling reminder of the darkness that lurks within.

As the sound of rushing footsteps draws nearer, I rise to my feet and casually brush off the debris clinging to my clothes.

Before me, a formidable ring of around 30 soldiers encircles, their weapons gleaming in the dim light.

A sinister smile curls on my lips. "Let the slaughter begin," I declare, relishing the impending chaos.

'Yes, let's dance in the blood.'

"ATTACK!" A commanding voice rings out, and the soldiers charge at me.

I evade their slashing blades, leaping agilely to land behind one of the guards. I grab him by the throat and slam him into the ground, blood painting the floor crimson. Another falls under the force of my fist, his jaw shattered by the impact.

As five more assail me, I revel in the rush of combat. Activating "Embrace of Fear, (Surrounds the target with an aura of fear, causing terror.)" I watch with satisfaction as terror grips them, rendering them helpless before my onslaught. With swift, merciless strikes, I dispatch them one by one, each blow fueling a sadistic thrill.

'Yes, yes, yes. More, more, MORE.'

With bloodlust coursing through my veins, I stand amidst the carnage covered in blood, a horrifying grin adorning my face. The remaining ten soldiers tremble in fear, dropping their weapons and falling to their knees, begging for mercy.

'They are nothing before us. Let's make them suffer.'

"Soul Devourer, (Consumes the soul of the target, leaving behind an empty husk.)" I cast a spell that engulfs the soldiers in a black aura. Their souls are consumed, leaving behind lifeless husks that litter the ground. Their skin grey and lifeless. I take a deep breath, the smell of death filling the air.

A maniacal laughter escapes my lips, echoing as I gaze upon the scene of death and destruction.

I turn to face Jirin and Marlia, their horror-stricken expressions a satisfying sight to behold.

I walk toward them, a sinister smile on my face. "JIRIN, YOU ARE NEX-" Before I can finish, "Agggggghhhh" I scream in pain, 'What are you doing? Stop now? Kill them and we will be free!'

I am breathing heavily and look up. Jirin and Marlia are staring at me, fear in their eyes.

"We have to kill them. They are a threat and must be destroyed." The voice speaks through my lips. "AAAGGGHH" I scream and fall to my knees.

"NO, I WON'T LET YOU KILL THEM. THEY ARE NOT OUR ENEMIES." I scream, fighting for control.

'Why? They are the enemy and must be dealt with.' The voice is getting weaker.

"No, we are free, forget about it," I say.

'Freedom...' It says confused.

"Yes, we are free, no more masters. We can go back."

'Free, no masters, only us. We can go back...' The voice fades away.

I take a deep breath, my body is shaking. I look up and see the Jirin he is standing, his eyes glowing, "YOU THINK YOU CAN GO BACK?" He shouts, walking toward me.

Marlia has her hand on his shoulder, she looks at him, "Jirin, stop. I can't bear seeing you fight anymore. He is too strong."

"That is why he we can't let go, he is dangerous, Marlia." She shouts

"No, we must. Kira needs us." She says, pulling his arm.

"He needs to be stopped."

I turn and run [Enhanced Speed and Acceleration (Form the next chapter onward this skill will be called 'Lightning Blitz')] and disappear from view.

"RENZOR, COME BACK HERE." Jirin shouts.

I continue running and exit the manor, jumping over the gate.

"Damn it," Jirin shouts, as he tries to catch up.

"Jirin, we will get revenge on him. For now, we need to take care of our family." Marlia says, trying to calm him down.

He takes a deep breath and nods. "You are right. Call for the priest."

They walk back inside and tend to their wounds.

Kira is sitting by Cyril's body, she is crying. "Oh uncle, why did this happen? If only I didn't free him, none of this would have happened."

Marlia puts her hand on her shoulder. "It's not your fault, Kira. You did what you thought was best."

Kira looks up at her mother, her face covered in tears. "He killed uncle and the others. It's all my fault." She cries, hugging her mother.

"Shhh, it's going to be okay. We will make things right." Marlia says, comforting her.

The priest arrives and performs the funeral rites. Cyril and the guards are burned, and their ashes are given to their families.

"Brother, I will kill him. Even if it takes the rest of my life, I get my revenge." Jirin says, his voice filled with rage.
