Chapter 10 - True Power

As the hunter closed in on the prey, Hendrie couldn't shake off the haunting memories of past encounters with Airen and his formidable abilities. Hendrie took cover behind a student with black hair and blue eyes, who appeared indifferent to the situation around him. Airen, once hailed as Vitramortis, spoke in a very eerie and excited voice, "How much time has it been since I tried my abilities on you, my dear friend Hendrie?"

Hendrie, hiding behind the unresponsive student, urgently whispered, "Please, help me!"

The boy, however, remained silent, giving no indication of his willingness to assist. Frustrated and desperate, Hendrie attempted to push the indifferent student toward Airen to buy himself some time to reach the stairs. To his surprise, the boy skillfully avoided Hendrie's attempt and, in return, delivered a swift kick, knocking Hendrie's teeth out. Airen, witnessing this unexpected turn of events, paused and looked toward the boy in total confusion as how a beast would look at a hunter for stealing his pray

As the rest of the class had managed to escape from the basement, Anna, who had snapped out of her confused state, began moving towards the stairs. Her mind raced to make sense of how she had been able to release such a concentrated burst of pure ki. Unaware of her surroundings and lost in contemplation, she reached the stairs to sit and collect her memories, determined to understand the newfound power Annabel, still reeling from the effects of the major concussion inflicted by Airen, slowly collected herself. Aliena, sitting in a corner of the basement, head buried in her knees, sobbed in a muffled voice. The recent events had left her mentally shattered,

Hendrie, knocked out cold from the unexpected kick, lay sprawled on the floor, completely unconscious.

As Airen gazed at the boy, his blue eyes began to glow, and a plasma-like static reaction covered his eyes. Airen and the boy moved closer until they were face to face. The boy extended his hand for a handshake, and Airen reciprocated. Both pairs of eyes glowed, indicating their active abilities.

"ANDERSON," the boy spoke in a rough manner, breaking the handshake and the silence. "Anderson, why did you touch my toy? I am not the type of person who likes to share," Airen responded in a narcissistic tone.

Anderson spoke with a tone of someone bothered by the insignificance of the matter. "He pushed me. I got angry. I kicked him, and it's that simple, Airen Altrof."

"So, you know who I am," Anderson continued, to which Airen replied, "Who doesn't know the famous shithead who killed his family?" Airen, starting to calm down, did not react to the obvious taunt.

"Funny guy, huh?" both said at the same time, as if Anderson knew what Airen was going to say next

As Airen looked suspiciously at Anderson, he continued, "I know everything about you—your past, present, and the future. So let me give you a piece of advice: don't mess with me or cause a commotion in the class again, that is, if you don't want to die."

Airen smirked and seized Anderson by the collar of his shirt. "Oh, and how are you going to kill me?" Anderson smiled, moving close to Airen's ear and whispering something to him. Airen's expression changed to a serious one as he let go of Anderson and said, "Who are you?"

"I thought I told you, someone named Anderson who knows you a little," Anderson smirked and left towards the stairs, leaving Airen to ponder about his identity
