Chapter 1 - Prologue

BOOOOOOOOM!

BOOOM!

Screeching sounds of destruction reverberated, as several structures and the main gate were destroyed and shattered by an unknown force. Explosions occurred simultaneously throughout the city, and the chaos took over. Crowds of people in the streets began to run wild caring only about themselves. Screams, curses and death cries escaped their mouths as people fell, only to be trampled mercilessly by those they once called neighbors

"Argghhhh!!"

"Nooooo, run..."

"S-Somebody help me–"

At the same time, a thick and mysterious green fog began to besiege the city. In the blink of an eye the city found itself cut off from the rest of the world. As if the oppressive feeling of isolation and limited vision weren't enough of a problem. The dying vegetation and the occasional hissing sounds emitted by the fog showed its toxicity, quickly extinguishing any attempt at escape that the residents might have had

BHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP!

With the appearance of the unknown fog, the intense metallic sound of war trumpets rang out, alerting everyone to the presence of the enemy. In response, a heavy metallic sound spread through the chaotic streets, as hundreds of men dressed in heavy armor moved through the crowds of desperate civilians fleeing for their lives. Thousands of soldiers dressed from head to toe in full armor guarded their positions on the still intact parts of the walls. Among the large number of soldiers guarding the city, ten men stood out like a sore thumb

These men were wearing the same basic standardized armor, showing their simple position as simple guards. However, their calm expressions and demeanours revealed a completely different story. As if that wasn't enough proof of their exceptional identity, each of these ten men possessed a sharp aura, emanating an energy strong enough to make the stone floor beneath their feet begin to crack under the weight of their power. These men were mercenaries hired to protect the city from a threat that was plaguing them

Unlike the soldiers beside them, who abused their strength and position to attack and kill the weak. These mercenaries were made up of experienced warriors, baptized with blood on the battlefield, having faced enemies much stronger than themselves, almost losing their lives several times in the process

With their weapons in hands these mercenaries were ready to engage in combat, once the need arose!

Sensing that something was approaching, the men looked towards a specific point on the horizon. It was then that a heavy, muffled and dreadful sound, like dragging metal, echoed repeatedly out of the fog

Shink! Shink! Shink! Shink!

As the metallic sound became louder and closer, part of the mist opened up, revealing... a single figure

This figure was tall and was wearing a long black cloak that covered its entire body, preventing anyone from deciphering its appearance, gender or age. The hooded figure calmly walked towards the walls, as if didn't notice the presence of the army staring at it. Despite the figure's calm demeanor, the frightening aura unconsciously oozing from its body, showed its hostile intentions

The aura emitted by this individual was violent and overwhelming like a wave, making one feel that he was facing a savage beast about to take their lives, instead of a person. And before anyone noticed, everyone had their backs covered in cold sweat

Shink! Shink! Shink! Shink!

With each step the hooded figure took, the metallic sound followed it, and the apprehension and tension that the soldiers felt increased. After taking a few more steps, feeling that it was enough, the figure stopped and slowly raised its head, revealing a pair of bright green eyes hidden under its cloak

"You fools, blinded by power and greed, take my silence and indifference as a sign of weakness. You dare take one of my faithful and threaten me? Do you think your so-called almighty God would protect you?"

Contrary to its violent and frightening aura, the hooded figure had a calm and serene voice, almost like a whisper. Still, strangely enough it was able to reach the ears of everyone in the city, as if the figure was whispering right next to them

"Let me tell you, to your God you are just toys used to pass the time, disposable dogs used to hunt and kill out of boredom. You are a bunch of pathetic beings who consider themselves so important, without ever seeing and reflecting on your own defects and flaws"

The figure's calm but poisonous words, as if possessing a supernatural power, made the soldiers feel demotivated, as if attacking their very essence. Feeling the fear increasing and the morale of the soldiers falling, the leader of the soldiers took a step forward and pointing his sword at the hooded figure shouted

"Do not be cowardly, this damned devil is just trying to weaken your hearts, with his deceiving and lying words. He may be powerful, but he is only one, if we unite, he will perish!"

"He is right! Let's kill the Devil!"

"Let's kill once again for the Blood Good!"

"Blood for the Blood God!"

"Blood for the Blood God!"

"Blood for the Blood God!"

Faced with the enemy's war cries, a muffled laugh escaped the figure

"Hahaha, Alone you say? Who said I'm alone?"

Following those words, a strange movement began to occur in the green mist. As if they had been there since the beginning, suddenly tens of thousands of pairs of blood-red eyes opened, revealing their presence

"W-What is that? This is impossible… this is the end"

"W-We are all going to die"

"How are we going to fight this… Has the great Blood God really abandoned us?"

"Don't be afraid, even with all the destruction we still have the advantage with the walls. As long as we protect it, neither the devil nor his army can invade us"

Completely unfazed by the chaotic emotions taking over the soldiers, the hooded figure calmly raised one of his hands towards the sky

"I must make an example of you guys. The world needs to understand, no one shall harm one of my faithful. After all…"

The figure stopped for a moment, lowering its hand, pointing towards the city in front of it. And as if the heavens themselves were responding to its command, an orange hue covered the cloudy sky above their heads

At the same time, a deafening noise rumble through the skies, as if the world itself was roaring in rage

ROOOOOAAAAAAAAAARR!

It was then that a terrifying scene occurred, under everyone's astonished eyes the sea of clouds beneath their heads split apart... revealing the presence of dozens of gigantic flaming stones falling towards from the sky

Witnessing this scene, the metallic sound of weapons being thrown to the ground filled the place. Several of the soldiers fell to their knees having already lost the will to fight.

"Shit, I really shouldn't have accepted this job", cursed one of the mercenaries, as the meteors approached

As fear, despair and deep regret took over them. The hooded figure concluded in a calm voice

"... No God can save its dog from the consequences of angering a devoted shepherd!"
