When Su Yan returned from the hospital to confront his grandfather about hassling Bai Wanrou, he overheard his grandfather's phone conversation with Bai Xue.

On the other end of the phone, Bai Xue frowned upon hearing Su Dongkun's words. She felt that something was off about his statement. But before she could utter a word, Su Yan's angry voice rang out from the phone.
"Bai Xue, stop meddling with Rou Rou, or I will ruin you completely!"
"It was me who wanted to see Bai Wanrou, not Bai Xue. Why are you venting your anger on her?" Su Dongkun rebuked angrily.
Su Yan did not believe his grandfather's explanation. He figured that his partiality to Bai Xue would naturally lead him to take the blame for her.
Su Dongkun snatched the phone and apologized to Bai Xue, asking her to ignore Su Yan's words.
Bai Xue said it was fine, but her mind was kept busy by this phone call.
Despite Su Yan's harsh words, he was cooperating with the wedding preparations. Yet, as the wedding approached, Bai Xue became more and more uneasy. Under the suspicion that something was off, she requested a meeting with Su Yan.

"No need to thank me, we're square." Even though Bai Xue had not asked for any favours from him in Hong Kong, he had always felt that he owed her. His recent assistance had called it even.
"Our wedding is approaching, how do you plan to handle Bai Wanrou?"
Su Yan frowned. The phrase 'handle Bai Wanrou' sounded unpleasant to him.
"Bai Xue, Rou Rou is your sister no matter what. You decisively wedged yourself between us without any guilt, and even have the audacity to ask me to handle her. Have you lost your conscience or were you born ruthless?"
"I'm certain, my mother only gave birth to me. Where did this sister come from?"
"What a pity your father didn't just father you!" Su Yan sneered in derision, she was devoid of any family sentiments.
"What does his offspring have to do with me?" Bai Xue retorted coldly.
Corner of Su Yan's mouth twitched; this woman was incorrigible!
"Su Yan, you still haven't answered. How do you plan to handle Bai Wanrou?"
"She will always be the woman I love most. If you can accept this, fine. If not, call off the wedding!" Su Yan was offering Bai Xue a chance. If she decided to back down now, she wouldn't meet a tragic ending.
"Su Yan, I don't care how much you love her. Once you become my husband, you must cut all ties with her!" Bai Xue declared assertively.
