They were summoned to the Su Family Old Mansion because of this matter.
"You two are so grown up and yet still so childish!" Su Dongkun threw the newspaper in front of them. It wasn't that he was particularly concerned how they tortured each other, but he would not accept becoming a laughing stock because of them.
The two of them remained silent.
"What do you think of yourselves? Enjoying the sense of being laughed at when people chat leisurely over tea and meals, excited even?" Su Dongkun felt disgusted every time he thought about how he was made an object of ridicule by his old friends today.
The two still remained silent in a sort of agreement.
In fact, they both regretted their actions, especially Su Yan. He thought he was absolutely looking for trouble and making a fool of himself yesterday.
They did not respond at all, which enraged Su Dongkun even more.
"Grandfather, we know we were wrong, and we won't behave like this in the future, so please don't be angry." Bai Xue stepped forward to massage the old man's shoulders.
Su Dongkun's expression finally softened, "Xiao Xue is the sensible one."
He glared angrily at Su Yan and said, "You, this unfilial grandson, you won't stop until you infuriate me to death!"
Su Yan muttered, "Are you done lecturing? If you're finished, let me go. I still have things to do."
"Put whatever it is aside for now, your aunt and Tianhao are coming over for a meal later!"
"Oh." Su Yan returned to his seat and casually picked up an antique from the table to fiddle with.
"Xiao Xue, go to the kitchen and check on the food. Your aunt may not be a guest, but you can't be too shabby either."
Bai Xue knew that this was an excuse Su Dongkun made to send her away.
He had something to discuss with Su Yan.
Being considerate, she wouldn't pry.
"Su Yan!" Su Dongkun called.
"Hmm." Su Yan didn't even lift his head.
"Your aunt is my only daughter, and Tianhao is her only child; thinking of them is only right. Your aunt has had a hard life, you and Tianhao should be loving and supportive to each other."
Su Yan raised his eyebrows and laughed sarcastically, "Loving and supportive?"
"Tianhao is a good boy." Su Dongkun had heard some news, because of that he let Tianhao and his daughter come over, and didn't want Su Yan to be in a hurry.
"Yes, he is a good grandson, while I'm not a good one."
"Su Yan, you're the sole heir of Su Family; you're my life." With one sentence, Su Dongkun established his importance.
"I get it, my dear grandfather. I didn't do anything, did I?" He endured his aunt's machinations and attempts on his life, out of respect for his elderly grandfather. He had not retaliated because he was waiting for his grandfather's opinion.
"Don't worry, I will give you justice." Su Dongkun sighed. His daughter was never a worry-free one.
Su Ruohan, Su Dongkun's youngest daughter and the Little Princess of the family, was destined for greatness. From her earliest years, she was spoiled and didn't understand the ways of the world. When she wanted to marry a man with bad intentions, Su Dongkun, in a fit of anger, had disinherited her. Penniless, she followed the man, who then ceased to care for her once she ran out of money.
Su Ruohan was stubborn. When she left, she swore that she would never return to ask for her father's help. Nonetheless, she persevered after her husband died until she was too impoverished to live on her own. It was not that she was betrayed by love, but she was financially struggling!
Bai Xue had dined with Su Ruohan several times and came to know her as a vanity-driven person who always appeared ostentatious, afraid that others might not see her as affluent.
