Qin Sisi was unfamiliar with the city's roads upon arrival and did not think too much of it initially. However, after approximately half an hour, she began to suspect that something was amiss.
Looking outside through the car window, she noticed that the streetlights were gradually decreasing, and the buildings on both sides of the road were getting lower. It was apparent that this location was somewhat remote.
"Driver, is this the way to the hotel?" Qin Sisi asked hesitantly.
The driver appeared to anticipate her question and assuredly replied, "Yes, this is a shortcut. The main road is too far, don't worry, we'll be there soon."
Before getting in the taxi, Qin Sisi had removed her hat and mask. Her slim body draped in a loose black trench coat made her look rather vulnerable.
She glanced at the back of the driver's head, and suddenly the news she had seen about women being victimized during late-night journeys flooded her mind.
