In my former life, I reigned as a queen, commanding armies with a snap of my fingers, settling disputes with duels, and reigning supreme in swordsmanship and the mastery of Enara, the unique force that flowed within me. Personal strength was crucial in my world, where rulers were forged, not born. But now, in this new life, the pride I felt was unparalleled.
I can finally crawl!
Finally, I moved beyond the stories my mother shared and my father's tales. Kellan Wintergale, a former adventurer, settled down after meeting my mother, Elara Wintergale, at the Kingdom's border in Valoria. He liked to brag about how my mother fell for him at first sight, but I suspected it was the opposite, given my mother's eye-rolling reactions.
I was Violet Wintergale now, or Vi for short. A former queen with a name that sounded too cute, yet, as I glimpsed myself in the metal sheet used as a mirror, I found an adorable sight. With my mother's glowing chestnut hair and my father's bright azure eyes that looked like sapphires, I looked promising.
Weeks of attempting to crawl had paid off, and now, I was exploring the family's library/study room. Mother sighed, predicting, "I swear, you're going to become as hard to manage as your father."
I closed the book I was reading and lay on my belly, contemplating the underdeveloped nature of this world. Limited technological advancements were evident, with horse-driven carriages and ships with sails being the primary means of transportation.
The liberal use of weapons baffled me, especially people carrying them while shopping for groceries. In my old world, weapons were used by guards, not civilians, to stop crimes.
Monarchy was a common system, with kings chosen based on lineage. Yet, this world lacked information about other continents despite the presence of ships for river travel. Perhaps, the technology for ocean navigation hadn't developed yet.
Magic in this world intrigued me. While my old world relied on Enara, here, it was called mana, and it existed in the atmosphere. Mages drew in surrounding mana, condensing it in their mana core. In my old world, Enara was formed inside the body. The dynamics intrigued me, especially the potential for increased strength by utilizing both the mana core and atmospheric mana.
The next book explained more.
"Beginner's Guide for an Starting Advanced Mage"
It detailed mana manipulation, with two common methods: augmentation and conjuring. Augmenters enhanced their bodies, while conjurers emitted mana for spells.
Weaknesses and Limitations:
Augmenters had limited range.
Conjurers needed to borrow mana from the outside world.
Both types were categorized based on their aptitude.
Fundamentals of Conjuring:
Gather surrounding mana.
Circulate it into the mana core.
Channel it through a conductor with incantations.
Fundamentals of Augmenting:
Efficient use of the mana from the core and the atmosphere.
Proper distribution of mana into different parts of the body.
Deviant types included healers, or Emitters, who could cast restorative mana on others.
I found answers about my parents' abilities. My father was a competent augmenter and a less-than-average conjurer. My mother, with her healing light, was an Emitter.
Understanding the similarities and differences between Enara and mana, I contemplated the potential to enhance my strength in this new world. The distinctions in mana channels and veins intrigued me.
My exploration of the library left me pondering the secrets of magic, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement about the possibilities that lay ahead.
"Flip, flip, flip," I delved into the pages, absorbing the knowledge.
"Eureka!" A sudden realization hit me as I connected the dots.
"The phenomenon called 'Ripple' occurs in both types of practitioners," I muttered to myself, deep in thought.
I chuckled softly, "Seems like the magical world has its own set of challenges."
As I continued reading, my curiosity grew, and I couldn't shake the excitement building within me.
"This world is filled with mysteries, and I'm determined to unravel them all," I declared with newfound determination.
Little did I know that this journey of discovery was just the beginning. But before that…
"I think I pooped myself again" probably from the information and excitement I just had.
Because the massive gap between Enara from my old world and this thing called mana which also has mana core it was hard to comprehend that you needed to be aged 10 and above to even start to manipulate and attempt on using mana. In my old world any child could sense or even attempt on gathering Enara since it was all scattered inside themselves, once you manage to form a shape from using Enara the Enara in the center would form and be complete.
I decided to test my theory and I began to focus in a meditating position and attempted on trying to sense this mana in my 8 month old body when…
"oh my gosh that's where you are Vi, what's that smell? are you having difficulties to poop again??"
Mom!!! I was just about put my foot into the mage world! Please do not make me out to be a infant.. I said to myself while blushing.
Mother picked me up slowly with her gentle hands and placing me into her arms, I was taken against my will to have my diaper replaced, which to my surprise it was so full I was wondering how I did not notice.
