Chapter 20 - The Abandoned Kingdom

As the week passes, Ottawa removed his sand goggles at the Ox reaches the destroyed gates of the kingdom.

Woah! Ottawa, this place is cool!

Stay focused, we keep on task. Get everyone inside the castle.

Right.

As the group enters the castle, Morgan turns to see Ottawa walking into the room. He carried himself with a sense of purpose, a kind of swagger that most people thought had been lost.

This is our new home. Clean it up, begin rebuilding.

Yes sir!

Morgan followed Ottawa around the kingdom. As he went about his way, he seemed to be distracted, as he was looking for something. It was if his demeanor had changed. He saved people like a hero, but fought people like a villain. He was a walking contradiction.

As Ottawa rounded a corner, an orc was trembling holding an ax.

Please... Stay back.

Fear not. I am not here to hurt you. I was intrigued when I sensed your presence nearby.

The orc looked at him, eyes still full of fear.

Young orc, you have ever right to fear me. However, you look hungry. How would you like something to eat?

I must defend my tribe.

A warrior? Now I am impressed. Most people don't have conversations with me for this long holding a weapon. Like I said, I mean you no harm.

The orc looked at him, then spotted Morgan in the background.

You came with a dryad. I am truly in presents of power. The orc kneels before him.

Take me to you clan, I wish to speak with your leader.

At once!

As Morgan and Ottawa follow the orc, they come upon a sad scene. Orcs, about a hundred or so on the brink of starvation. The Orc king stands up when he senses the immense magical energy coming from Ottawa.

Who have you brought to me?

My lord, I did not ask his name, please forgive me, but he comes with a dryad.

Ottawa bows and then introduces himself.

I am Ottawa Yujin, and starting today my friends and I will be making this place our home.

You can't! This is our home!

It still can be your home, all you must do is plead your loyalty to me. I have enough to feed all of you.

So... You understand our dilemma.

That I do. What I am offering you is something more than just food, this is the chance to fully embrace a rising power. I am not a wicked ruler, I just had the current systems in placing with the confines of this world.

I see. Well, I am the Orc King known as Baron. If you would be willing, tell us more of this vision of yours.

Well Orc King Baron. I am human.

A HUMAN! WITH THAT KIND OF POWER!

I am aware it is very uncommon, rare even. In the time I have traveled, I have beaten four of the five legendary heroes.

The orcs gasp in awe.

The Legendary heroes.... You beat four of them?

And ended in a stalemate with the fifth, the Angel hero.

I see. You are indeed powerful.

That I am. Imagine someone of my strength watching over your people. You will never be hungry, so long as you are loyal to me, you all shall be welcomed in my view of the world.

I don't...

Perhaps a demonstration of my strength would better suit you. Morgan, summon the strongest creature. I will not kill it, rather I will these orcs the kind of power I wield. This world... Needs to hear my pain...

Ottawa covers his mouth, the emotional mask he'd been using to shield himself had crack, just enough for the pain the escape.

Forgive me. If you wish, send forth your best warrior, let me show you what I can do.

King Baron nods and sends forth his strongest soldier. Without a second thought, Ottawa uses static to bring the orc to his knees. Ottawa's cloaked flowed as the energy being released was changing the very wind pressure around him.

Ottawa began to walk forwards towards the warrior.

Skill: Ouroboros Aura of Despair.

The Orc warrior began to crawl backwards as Ottawa continued to march towards him. Baron stood up as the warrior continued his crawl backwards.

CAN YOU SEE NOW! I AM FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH! THOSE AGAINST ME STAND NO CHANCE AND HAVE NO HOPE!

I... I now see. We yield and surrender ourselves to your mercy.

Ottawa canceled his skills and offered his hand to the warrior. On your feet. I will train you and your brethren so that you might live to see tomorrow. It will be a long road, but worth every amount of pain.

Ottawa turns and begins to walk towards the castle. Morgan rushes after him.

Ottawa wait!

What is it Morgan?

What was that back there?

What was...

That emotion?

Ottawa's expression became cold. It would be in your best interest to stay out of that.

I could help you!

NO! STAY OUT OF IT!

Ottawa's face was full of anger and hate, but not towards Morgan. She simply nodded and followed him back to the castle.

-Notice-....

Shut up Sage. I need time to think.

Ottawa went into the dungeon, trying so calm his mind, however, he couldn't suppress his frustration.

Why... Why? ... WHY DID SHE DO THAT?! WHY DID MY OWN MOTHER COME TO ATTACK ALL OF MY FRIENDS! SHE EVEN ATTACKED GRANDPA! I JUST WANT THE WORLD TO PAY FOR WHAT SHE DID TO ME! WHY DIDN'T SHE SUFFER! WHY THE HELL AM I THE ONLY ONE SUFFERING HERE!

Ottawa's breath was heavy and hot. He put his fist through the wall and made his way back upstairs.

As the gates closed, Morgan took off her cloaking spell, eyes dripping with tears. Oh Ottawa.. she thought as she leaned against the wall remembering her own past history, sobbing silent tears in the dark dungeon.
