Mikeal was told to stay behind when the king and the others were going out. His father told him to wait his time and only to make an appearance when the curtain was opened.
Grefon Stanley glanced at him to do as the king said, knowing he was reluctant to obey. He had already abided by his request up until this point so what is a little more that he cannot endure?
"Uhm- your daughter, Anna. She is doing fine".
Mikeal brought up the conversation while he was waiting behind the closed curtain with the commander.
As they were alone, Mikeal was expecting the commander to bring up news about his daughter's welfare. He feared that if he kept waiting for him to, the commander would never ask him.
Might be out of a sense of workmanship for Grefon Stanley to hesitate on the question. Anna did say something about letting go of all her attachment to any personal life she had before becoming his personal guard.
