Chapter 14 - Aspect Shift

'Vine manifestation and vine manipulation!'. He thought.

'He is able to manifest the vines from the ground. So far he hasn't shown the potential of manifesting the vine from any other places so I have nothing to worry about'. He figured.

It would be a great deal if say Mikeal is capable of manifesting those vines from anywhere, like say from his sword or the leader's body.

That can turn out to be a big problem as it would impede and limit the leader's movement.

'The vines are not that strong but they seem pretty sturdy enough'. He considered.

Earlier when his weapon was wrapped around the vine, they did not cut despite making contact with the bladed side of his vine. He tested it out by trying to cut down the vine net Mikeal had earlier cast, it was the same.

The vines did not succumb to the blade.

'I also have to take note! Those vines?! They are not affected by my flame'. He analyzed.

Naturally, any attribute involving or related to wood is prone to be weak against fire. It is only given that as soon as his vines made contact with the tip of his sword, the expected reaction is for the vines to catch on fire and burn to nought.

But no, the natural isn't the case here.

'Those vines aren't following the natural protocol! I have to be wary of them'.

The leader had initially wanted to make physical contact with the vines so he could get a feel for the properties it is composed of if it were the same as it was on the outside.

With the circumstances turned in this direction, he has to make certain to be careful of some procedures. That includes physical contact.

'Ah. Am I starting to worry too much about a greenhorn that had just awakened to the world of mages?!'. He thought, finding it ridiculous.

There is no way he is worried. Yes, he is a first-class mage and could pretty much be said to be on the same level as Mikeal who had just awakened. But he has experience on his side.

Until about an hour ago, Mikeal was a child abandoned and trashed for being an outcast, a cursed one. Until an hour ago he was a nobody who had no control over his magic.

The sight of his awakening has changed nothing. It only gave him the necessary tools to fight, it didn't make him omnipotent and invincible.

'There is nothing to fear'. He assured himself as he brandished his sword, ready to set out.

'That!'. He stopped after only taking his first step toward Mikeal.

What Mikeal was up to had him intrigued, enough to make him hesitant.

He felt a shift in his presence, owning to how his body was strangely getting invigorated out of nowhere.

"Don't tell me! He is shifting from the conjurer aspect to the enhancer aspect! And doing that just moments after his awakening!!'.

The leader was astonished as well as mortified. This is a guy who has had his eyes opened to the world of mages about an hour ago or so.

Yet! Merely hours into it he is already attempting an extreme technique that could lead to instant death with a little mistake on his side.

'No! I can't let him live! He is too dangerous to allow him to roam free!'. He speculated with resolve to put an end to Mikeal.

...

Mikeal had achieved it. Following Siveth's instruction he was able to direct the flow of his mana through his bloodstream, thereby allowing his body to be physically shaped, more so than he was before.

He too could feel the difference in his nonexistent muscle, how his small body had grown in comparison to previous time.

Even before his awakening he had achieved peak human strength and was capable of taking on an adult-sized male anytime any day.

Now with the mana enhancement taking his physical strength to a new level... Mikeal feels nearly unstoppable.

But no. He is not so clueless as to let himself be blinded by the power he has attained.

Mikeal shifted back to the conjurer aspect. He used the effect of being a conjurer to materialize vine from his hand. The vines were crafted and shaped in the form of a long sword.

For a tool made of vine, it was well crafted and also has that danger added to it. If he is going to be taking on someone with a weapon, he too needs a weapon.

Yes, the vine sword might look mighty enough, it is only to be seen if its effect can stand up to the real deal.

Having crafted the weapon, he changed back to the enhancement aspect and got ready to square with the leader.

Mikeal held his weapon and pointed the tip at the leader. The leader did the same and as though they had both received a notice, they simultaneously charged at one another both emanating a noticeable killing intent.
