"I... I spent my entire life chasing the monster—no, my friend—hoping that someday, he would turn back to normal," the Trashman said, his eyes gazing into the distance with a hint of sadness.
"I threw away my life, my name, my identity, and became the Trashman. Because I know the innocent time we spent, the days we still had hope and dreams, were the days we played in the mountain of trash."
He looked up, his eyes reflecting a long-lost dream. "Without any burdens in this world, we could be whoever we wanted to be. A part of me always wanted to return to that time."
"When I think about it again, I realize I did it because I had nothing left. He was the last person I had, so I continued to chase him until my last breath."
Lucien stared at the Trashman blankly. He knew the man before him was a hero, but he never realized he was a 'real' one. To him, the Trashman had always seemed like a joke.
