EVAN
The act of following someone, of stalking them, is generally deemed wrong, but love has a way of bending the rules. In that moment, I felt no remorse for tailing her. Leading her into my car, I sensed the turmoil within her. While I understood the pain she must be experiencing, atleast she found solace in the comfort of my car.
Her hand, cold and slightly bleeding from the impact of punching a wall, rested in mine. Having anticipated such situations, I had bandages in my car, which I gently applied to her wounded hand. She remained silent, her gaze fixed on the passing scenery outside the car window.
After the makeshift first aid, I started the engine and drove her to her apartment—a destination I knew too well from my surreptitious observations.
Upon arrival, I offered a reflection on the bitter irony of love, "You know what is the worst thing love can do? Love can make you stop believing in love." She didn't respond, maintaining her silent contemplation. As she opened the car door and stepped out, I watched her make her way into her apartment before driving away.
