It seems that Shi Yao is indeed from the Medicine Guanyin lineage.
"So, are the thirty-three Elders of Guanyin Hall each representing one of the thirty-three Dharma Bodies of Bodhisattva Guanyin?"
Wei Tingbao nodded, "Yes, the thirty-three Elders of Guanyin Hall, each represents one of the thirty-three families. Each family controls a different Guanyin Dharma Body cultivation technique. To cultivate at a higher level, one must choose to join one of them; otherwise, they can only reach the Core Formation stage."
Ji Changsheng sighed lightly, "The Bodhisattva, in his great compassion and mercy, established the Guanyin Hall to save all beings. Yet, the salvific Buddhist Law passed down by the Bodhisattva has become private property to the families of Guanyin Hall. Fellow Daoist Shi, Guanyin Hall should feel ashamed."
