Chapter 16 - Chapter 10 - The Truth Doesn't Matter, Taking Sides is Important_1

The members of the Mystic Temple do not fully understand Ji Changsheng.

Ji Changsheng is someone with a deep-rooted sense of insecurity.

Because he has always been met with misfortune.

In his last life, he strived to maintain the balance of the universe. Just two years into his job at the Edge of the Universe, he was due to become the Deputy City Lord's son-in-law because of his good connections and good looks. Unexpectedly, he found himself stuck in a different reality.

With a strong adaptability, Ji Changsheng didn't crack under this sudden shift. Instead, he had to contemplate whether he should marry into a wealthy family or take the civil service exam in this new world.

Suddenly, the Sky Devil Sect arrived.

He was taken to the Devil Sect.

Ji Changsheng spent nearly a year killing his enemies and managed to secure a foothold in the Sky Devil Sect.

Then, he was assigned to the Mystic Temple...

Though Ji Changsheng is not yet thirty, his life experiences are already quite diverse.

Life always gives him hope, but soon after he attains it, everything is cruelly taken away from him.

In the face of these heartbreaking lessons from his past, it is hard for Ji Changsheng to feel secure.

Especially now - he is hardly safe in the Mystic Temple. His Senior Sister Li Changxi has a problem, and the Bai Family has become hostile toward him.

"Even if I am willing to leave the Bai family alone, they definitely won't spare me."

"The Bai family has obviously arranged a good life for Bai Guanlin. But I, being an ordinary person with no powerful background, am standing in his way. The Bai family will inevitably try to eliminate me, clearing the path for Bai Guanlin."

"So, I am forced to pre-emptively strike."

Ji Changsheng believes his logic is flawless.

Surviving to this day has been more than challenging.

Whoever wants to kill him, he must kill them first.

So, Ji Changsheng swiftly switched to execution mode.

Killing in the Mystic Temple is much less convenient than in the Sky Devil Sect. After all, the Mystic Temple is an immortal sect of the Righteous Path, which generally prohibits its disciples from fighting amongst themselves, let alone killing.

But he still decided to act.

There are always more solutions than problems.

Ji Changsheng declined further help from Li Changxi and exited the Moon Palace.

Just after stepping out, he saw a group of people approaching him.

Li Daoyan and Ying Hongye quickly came to his side. Li Daoyan whispered, "Be careful, Changsheng. The person in white is Bai Guanlin. He may cause you trouble."

Ying Hongye also advised, "Don't have a face-to-face confrontation with him."

Ji Changsheng realized that the recent incident had already spread throughout the Mystic Temple.

Secrets really are hard to keep.

This came as no surprise to him.

Ji Changsheng looked at Bai Guanlin, dressed in white, leading the group, and memorized his looks and stature.

He also took note of the group of followers behind Bai Guanlin.

Contrary to what Li Daoyan had guessed, Bai Guanlin's intent was not to cause trouble but to apologize.

"Little Uncle Master, there were some misunderstandings. Upon hearing about them, I felt uneasy, so I came here to apologize. Your merit has been recognized by the Mysterious Yellow Merit Tower. You are not from the Devil Sect, it was my uncle who misunderstood."

Bai Guanlin started the conversation himself. He didn't wait for Ji Changsheng to respond before bowing deeply to show sincere regret.

Ji Changsheng became alert inwardly.

If Bai Guanlin were here to cause trouble, he would be more at ease.

But he is here to apologize...

The dog that bites doesn't bark. He must kill this dangerous 'dog' as soon as possible, or it might become a big threat in the future.

Ji Changsheng didn't say anything. He just stared at Bai Guanlin bowing, his eyes becoming more serious.

Meanwhile, Bai Guanlin's followers joined in:

"Young Master Bai is being too modest."

"Ji Changsheng, Master Bai has apologized. Why haven't you accepted it yet?"

"Elder Bai is dead, yet Master Bai still came to apologize. The Illusory Light lineage really is arrogant!"

Ji Changsheng's face showed a trace of sarcasm, and he relaxed inwardly.

Good.

If these followers hadn't chimed in, he would have been more worried.

With them joining in, the threat from Bai Guanlin and his followers decreased significantly.

Dogs that bite aren't really a big threat.

What made Ji Changsheng relax even more was the message he received afterward:

"Ji Changsheng, if you offend our Bai family, you won't be able to take a step in the Mystic Temple. And Li Changxi won't be able to protect you."

At this moment, Bai Guanlin looked up and stared directly at Ji Changsheng.

His eyes held a blade, his mouth a sword, and his heart resentment!

Ji Changsheng chuckled.

The guy was just too young.

He couldn't pull off being an actor. He couldn't convincingly pretend all was well.

Let me show you, kid, what a real actor is like.

To Bai Guanlin's shock, Ji Changsheng suddenly spat out fresh blood, his face turning as pale as gold paper. His energy severely depleted, he toppled backward.

At the same time, Ji Changsheng's angry voice echoed around, "Bai Guanlin, so this is your apology?"

Bai Guanlin was dumbfounded.

As the most talented descendant of the Bai family and more importantly, the youngest son of Fairy Linglong, Bai Guanlin had always been the favorite of the heavens.

People had always treated him with respect.

From the outside, he seemed impeccable and everybody seemed to be at his disposal.

This led Bai Guanlin to believe that the world revolved around him.

But Ji Changsheng taught him a sharp lesson.

He had been alive for over twenty years, yet he had never experienced anything like this.

He took a dazed look at his own hands, then at the faint, bloody-faced Ji Changsheng, and then Bai Guanlin finally reacted, his entire person filled with indignant confusion: "I didn't do it!"
