In a moment's time, Ah Dai returned to his room, his face seemingly much paler. His injured left arm hung at his side, and in his right hand, he held a tray with breakfast on it.
Placing the breakfast in front of Xuan Yue, Ah Dai said, "Miss Xuan Yue, please have breakfast."
Xuan Yue glanced at him and said, "Aren't you eating? Why is there so little?"
Ah Dai shook his head and replied, "I'm your attendant, how could I eat with you? I'll eat outside. Call me if you need anything." With that, he turned and walked out.
Once outside the room, Ah Dai took a deep breath; he felt extremely upset and let out a self-mocking laugh, murmuring, "That's right! I'm just a thief by origin, and she's a miss from the Holy Church; how could she ever look up to me? One year, is it? Teacher Goris, I'm going to be another year late before I can return to see you."
"What's wrong, Ah Dai, you seem very unhappy!" Kigg's voice came through.
