Chapter 109: Encounter
The moonlight was as serene as a tranquil lake, and atop the tree canopy, it was utterly quiet. The devil stood still, lost in a daze, staring at the resplendent moon. He seemed to have fallen into a distant memory, and unbeknownst to himself, tears trickled down from his eyes.
A melancholic devil that can cry, who, despite once having a penchant for killing, also had such a vulnerable side, was hard to believe for anyone.
Despite his devilish nature, he was handsome. Given that he was the only evil spirit to have escaped the Dead City, there must be something extraordinary about him. He must have had a glorious past, but all his past faded into the flow of time, and he didn't even know who he was.
"Looking at the moon in the sky, my heart aches. It feels like an eternity ago, on a night similar to this one, that I lost something very precious…" The devil's pale cheeks were glistening with teardrops.
