"I guess this is the benefit of the system," Steve said with a sigh before deciding to ignore it.
If the system hadn't broken due to his modification, it would have at least been able to tell him what had changed.
He could recreate the system; however, it wasn't something he deemed necessary.
The change wasn't much, and from what he could tell just by sensing it, it had something to do with his basic abilities.
"Is that all, sir?" Judy asked.
As she spoke, Steve saw her height physically changing as she slowly returned to normal.
It was a weird thing to see, but after everything he had seen, it wasn't all that outlandish.
Scanning the Dungeon one last time to ensure that nothing was left alive, Steve and his Monarch creation left the Dungeon.
He was now down one enemy, and he had five more to go. As soon as they passed the gate, the two reappeared in the workshop.
Immediately, Steve felt a massive burden on himself, almost as though the world was crashing down on him.
However, no matter how he scanned the area, there was no direct cause for this.
"Is this what it feels like to be powerful?" Steve asked as he tried to adjust to the new weight on him.
"Yes, this realm doesn't have the resources and can't hold you at full power, so it reduces it as best as it can," Judy explained.
"I see, that makes sense," Steve replied.
If it was so, then it meant that he was doing something right. After a while, he began to get used to the restriction.
It was only there to prevent him from using max power during his everyday life here. It apparently does nothing when you brute force it. It was an excellent thing to note.
Deciding to ignore it, Steve focused on the things he had been working on. They would help him greatly in the battles to come.
…
Haneda Airport,
Tokyo, Japan.
The airport was filled to its brim as people went around buying tickets or boarding planes.
The crowd was massive, but none seemed to be coming from arrivals; the entire state was in panic.
However, Steve couldn't blame them. He understood why it was so. Truthfully, if he were in their situation, he would have left the very minute the rank of the gate was determined.
Jeju Island may have been a stain on Korea only, but it was an eye-opener to the rest of the world. They saw the destructive power of the S-rank gates, and now these people had one directly in the center of their city.
While it was true that the ants took over six years to become this strong, even then, there were millions of them.
Their numbers made them an S-rank threat initially, and later on, their evolution multiplied that.
This would be the second S-rank gate, so no one knew if they would start out as weak as the ants did or just be that strong.
